I think when you have the ability and combination to post and pick and pop, with a 6'9", 270lb frame, thats a pretty good combination. As we all know, the NBA is about potential. Its there.

I dont see much of a post up game (in terms of NBA). His shot is good enough for the NBA. His defense is not, yet. I just wouldnt take a guy in the top 10 if all I expected is a pick and pop game. He isnt quick/athletic enough to run the floor and doesnt have a versatile enough offensive game. I just havent seen enough moves, back to the basket or otherwise, to take him that high. I also dont buy for a second that he is 6-9.

If Sully isn't 6'9", then Thomas is lucky to be 6'5". You listed Thomas at 6'9" a couple days ago. I go to every game, when they stand next to eachother, there is a significant difference in height.

Yeah, I had Thomas' height way wrong. Maybe Sulinger is 6-9. But he plays way below the rim if he is. Derrick Nix is listed at 6-9, which I dont buy either. He and Sully looked pretty equal when I saw them. Zeller is 6-11, and that I do believe. So I will see how much taller he is than Nix. That isnt really the issue though.

It isnt like they go all out all game, like in college. But they definitely play much, much better defense than is given credit. This. They play defense. Offense is just too good much of the time. But you arent playing much of the 4th quarter if you cant play defense.

No offense, but Sullinger will be a lottery pick. You can read this on EVERY mock site. Teams aren't going to waste millions of dollars unless they think he has the ability to be succuessful.

I will bet my life Sullinger wont ever play above the rim. I dont think I can think of a single player who didnt play above the rim all his life, then was able to in the NBA. I also never said he wont be successful. I just dont think I would personally draft him in the top 10. I dont see top 10 potential there. He is a safe pick, but if I have a top 10 pick, and am looking to build my team, I dont take a safe pick. I take a guy with more potential, even if the risk is higher. That said, of course he will be a lottery pick. I never said he wouldnt. But I doubt he lives up to that billing.

He can work on his shooting all he wants, but you cant become a top player by shooting (as a PF). HE can improve his lateral quickness and first step, but it still wont be enough to help him beat guys with moves, imo.

I am not trying to talk down about the kid. He is a great, great player. I mean, I am comparing him in these evaluations with the other top 15 players in college/entering the draft. So it isnt as though I am saying he is average at best. He is a fucking beast. But when I put him against the others, and try to project how good they can be in the NBA, I see him as a middle 1st rounder.

I must have misunderstood the rim thing. I obviously don't disagree with that. And again, i have questions about how good he will be as well. I am just looking at it from the standpoint that he is a legit 6'9", 270 and if hits the weights even more, will get better. He knows the game well, has a feel for the game with very very good footwork. Quite often goes against taller players and has consistantly done well. As far as drafting....the draft is based on team needs quite often when you get past a number. He may fit in very well with a team. Quite often in the NBA, its about getting into the right system, with the right team in an area of need. Some are lucky, some are not.

Sullinger measured 6'10 in shoes (which probably add 1-1.5 inches) with a 7'1 wingspan at the Amare Camp last summer.

I think you overrate the lottery. That's 14 picks every season. Maybe 2-3 of them will be legitimate superstars, another 3-4 might be occasional all-stars. That leaves, at best, 7 guys a year who will likely be role players or worse.
