Yep. He'll be gone for awhile, having the surgery this week (or just had it). I think they have him on a 9-month timetable for return which would put him back May/June next year.

Would pretty much be Boston getting bailed out on a TON of cash.

From 2013 forward, Boston owes...

Adrian Gonzalez 143M/6yr
Carl Crawford 102.5M/5yr
Josh Beckett 31.5M/2yr
Ellsbury is a free agent after 2013 (likely will get 10-11M in arbitration)

Yep. That's really what it's all about, freeing up a crap ton of cash to fix the pitching staff and bring in players that aren't piles of douche. I'm looking at you, Beckett.

Like the Dodgers aggression. Wow.

But Gonzo has not been good, and seems more concerned about screwing Bobby V

The Dodgers picked up Hanley Ramirez and his $15 mil/year earlier this season. If they pick up those 3 as well they will have added $70+ million alone to the roster during the season. That doesn't even take into consideration the $20 a year they signed onto for Matt Kemp in the off-season.

This guy could very well be the next Steinbrenner who runs the teamn at a loss because he is obsessed with trying to win.

That is the only explanation because financially what he has done since the time of the purchase makes zero sense from a dollars and cents standpoint.

But Dodger fans are happy as hell...they are glowing right now....gotta be exciting. When your team goes all out to win....

I think karma will keep them from winning it all....a team throw together of all-stars in late August shouldn't win....but that's a killer lineup

Here's the rumored deal going down today:

LA gets:
Adrian Gonzalez
Josh Beckett
Carl Crawford
Nick Punto
Cash

Boston gets:
James Loney
Jerry Sands
Ivan DeJesus, Jr.
Rubby De La Rosa
prospect Allen Webster

That is a metric fuckton of money headed to LA.

Been reading a lot about the proposed trade and the feeling (that I agree with) is that it signals and end to Boston's "wreckless spending" period - when they saw themselves bring in guys like Beckett, Crawford, Gonzalez, Lackey, etc. Back to a focus on developing talent and supplementing it with the right guys. I like it.

It will probably be a few years before the team is truly competitive but if the focus is on developing farm guys and building for the long-term, I'll take it over spoiled brats like Beckett and Crawford. Here's to a new future for the BoSox.

Mike Stanton just hit another monster to dead CF....Aaron Harang was the victim.

Guessing 475....would believe 495....under 455 is just wrong

Bryce Harper with a 2 HR game tonight....his second one was a monster shot about a dozen rows into the upped deck.

I have seen a few rumors of late that Roger Clemens is in line to possibly pitch for the Astros before the end of the season if his next start for that independent league team goes well.

Will an extra 5 years deliberation on his HOF worthiness really make that much a difference? Not to mention, man are the Astros desperate if they let this circus come to town.

I would root for him to get knocked all over the field and then for someone to charge the mound and beat on him a bit. (nothin bad, just mainly an embarrassment)

Bryce Harper still playing like his hair is on fire....just had a pretty good collision with Molina for the go-ahead run.

Molina needs about 4 days off.

Braves trailed 7-3 in the 9th and Chipper just won it with a 3 run bomb. Unreal.

He can take the rest of his life off from baseball and I wouldn't shed a tear.

Neither would I but I'd miss a shit-ton of highlights and great numbers over the next 2 decades.
