I've caught nearly all his games, being the DC area. The kid has some energy and is playing outside his mind. The Nats, as a team, are legit so far. The pitching is insane. I really hope they can sweep the Phillies.

That's weak, throw at his head not his knee.

This Harper kid is fun to watch.
Too bad he's completely overwhelmed and not ready. SMH
I've never seen that kind of steal of home in MLB. Cole Hamels is one savvy veteran and the 19 year old is owning him so far.

He puts a zero on the board to take the game to the 17th, and lo and behold the Orioles score 3 in the top of the 17th. So now he really feels the pressure to get a win and what would also be a save if he wasn't the pitcher who was of record when the lead was taken. The first two batters reach on a hit and a walk so it is not looking too good facing Adrian Gonzalez, but he strikes him out swinging on 3 pitches, turning the tide. Next his fellow competitor on the mound, position player Darnell McDonald who had given up the 3 runs in the top of the 17th, comes up with a chance to get the runs back and take himself "off the hook", but on the 2nd pitch grounds into a game ending 6-4-3 DP.
Rube Waddle went 0-8 and got the win....July 4th 1905....pitched all 20 innings and defeated some guy named Cy Young....who also went all 20.

Might only be up for a few minutes until MLB steps in.

Huge bruise you could see on his arm as he was walking in the dugout. Tell sign of a broken bone, as if there was doubt.

Yeah its easier to pitch 20 innings throwing 60 MPH than when you throw 95. Just sayin'Ironman92;1163933 wrote:Rube Waddle went 0-8 and got the win....July 4th 1905....pitched all 20 innings and defeated some guy named Cy Young....who also went all 20.

Great job by Stammen, poor job by the Phillies. Wouldn't be surprised if that cost the Phillies.

I imagine they threw way harder than that considering those guys had minimal ERA and 20 innings had to be 225 pitches.

Was just reading about Cy Young and they said his fastball was about 60-70 mph. That was just a guess.

And Feller was clocked at 98.3 or something in the 30s. Babe Ruth watched 3 pitches of Walter Johnson go by without swinging cause he couldnt see them (said they sounded high in post game interview lol). Now, they were more recent, but if it hasnt changed in 100 years since Walter Johnson, I assume it was about the same back when Cy Young was hurling.Ironman92;1163956 wrote:I imagine they threw way harder than that considering those guys had minimal ERA and 20 innings had to be 225 pitches.
