As far as comedies go there are only 2 that I consider since Hangover. Change Up and Horrible Bosses. All of the other big name comedies had moments of funny content but I didn't think any of them were as good as these two.
i can't believe they're still making the switching bodies movies...smh.

I agree with this. I didn't expect anything when I saw it....I was VERY pleasantly surprised. It was hilarious.

I didn't hate Youth in Revolt because of Michael Cera, I like him. I hate it because it was a horrible movie and I chuckled MAYBE once.

Can't wait for your "Movie Act of Valor" thread. Where you tell us how great it is. /sarcasm.

What category would you put it in?
Commander of Awesome;1087465 wrote:Not one good movie on that list.

Okay. We've already been thru this a million times. You dislike just about every movie out there. Not a surprise that you don't "like" any of those movies.
Commander of Awesome;1087471 wrote:Horrible Bosses - 57 meta score
Bad Teacher 47 LOL
Hangover II - 44
Little Fockers - 2 ****ing 7, ranked as one of the worst movies of 2010.
She's Out of my League - 46
Date Night 56
Due Date 51

Lot of mediocrity and terribleness in that list. Nice fail Scarlet.

Yes, because Rotten Tomatoes is the end-all-be-all of movie ratings. [insert rolling eyes icon]

List of United States comedy films. Yes, I know it's Wikipedia, but again... if it's not a comedy, then what is it? Even IMDB lists it as a comedy.
justincredible;1087562 wrote:I agree with SB, I thought Youth in Revolt was fantastic. I also liked Horrible Bosses. Oh, and 50/50 is probably the funniest movie I've seen in a long time.
Thank you. Finally some reasoning. And I forgot 50/50.

I used metacritic not RT. Two different sites, but overall I'd say the site compliing all the critic scores is a fairly accuracte assesment. I forgot you were a good movie critic, and I should disregard what everyone else says about a movie. What an idiot ego trip you're on.

Justin great call on Hot Tub Time Machine. Can't believe I forgot about that one I'd probably list that one as my favorite comedy for a movie that has came out after The Hangover.

It's funny that SB makes fun of Raw Dawgs username since it used in a movie he listed.

If i saw twilight and lost my man hood i'd be jealous i was no longer able to raw dog.

I also think most comedies now are just shock value laughs, i don't think they hold up after 1 watch. I thought superbad was hilarious the first time, but didn't laugh at all the second time. I feel the same way about the hangover. I think "get him to the greek" is really funny, only one in a while where i laugh everytime i see it.

That's very tough for me to do. I can give top 3

Seventh Seal
Lost in Translation
the Big Lebowski (to this day I still think John goodman played the best supporting actor I've ever seen. Walter makes the movie for me and its a total shame he wasn't nominated for an Oscar. Complete snub.)

I don't think I could top 5 without really thinking hard about it. Those 3 movies I generally point to as my favorites.

I thought "Get Him to the Greek" was brilliant the first time I watched it. Great the second time...but "meh" ever since. And I shit you not, I fast forwarded to the "Jeffrey" part on my DVR last night because I wanted a good laugh. I barely smiled at that part anymore and I nearly pissed my pants the first time I saw it.

ha i know what you mean. My ribs hurt from laughing the first time i saw it, i still laugh but not as hard. I also think Grandma's Boy is really funny, even though overall it's a pretty shitty movie.

The Hangover was pretty damn funny. I'm trying to think of a movie before it that was as funny and I'm drawing a blank right now. (I'm sure there were plenty of funny movies, I just can't think of them.)

I don't know if I've ever been more disappointed in a movie than the Big Lebowski. I did not see until just the last few years and everyone always talked about how great it was. It had a few funny quotes, but overall I didn't see what the hype was about. I think my expectations were too high.

I think you had to watch the Big Lebowski when it came out to respect it as much as many fans do. Scripts change, comedy changes...if you aren't watching it "in the time," you're not going to respect it as much. I for one, love it. But I saw it in the theater.

It's like Tommy Boy or Happy Gilmore...some of the best comedies of (most of) our time. Those movies for today's comedy crowd wouldn't bring the laughs like they did back then. And when you quote them to some young 20 year old punk in your office and they just stare blindly at you like a retard...it burns...

I agree with that. It didn't help that a couple of friends/coworkers kept talking about how awesome it was and that it was something I HAD to see. My expectations were sky high.

I didn't realize so many people looked for great plots in comedies. A comedy is supposed to be funny. It doesn't have to be a great movie but that is just my opinion I suppose.

I watched Big Lebowski for the first time a couple years ago and I must say I love that movie. Goodman was great in it but so was Bridges. I can't think of a Coen Brothers movie that I have watched that I didn't enjoy though.
