The greatest rivalry in college basketball will be renewed in Chapel Hill tomorrow night when Carolina hosts Duke. The Heels have won five in a row after the debacle in Tallahassee, and need a win to keep pace with FSU atop the ACC Standings. On the other hand, Duke is coming off a tough overtime loss at home to Miami on Sunday and is also looking to avoid a third conference loss.

When it's game time, though, none of that really matters. It's Carolina against Duke...Duke against Carolina, and as usual, bragging rights are on the line.

Who ya got?


Note to Carolina fans: Yes, I am aware that I misspelled Duke. I just don't feel like listening to them whine. :D

Carolina hasn't won the opening game of the series when it has occurred in the Dean Dome since 1998. Roy is 0-4 when facing Duke at home for the teams' first meeting of the season.

Carolina has a school record 31-game home win streak right now.

Duke hasn't lost consecutive games in Chapel Hill since 1997 and 1998.

Carolina by about 12. I'll be real close for a half...maybe 25 minutes, but UNC will pull away in the second half.

UNC by double digits. I could see them really pounding on Duke as well. Wouldn't be shocked if this one gets ugly.

Almost time.

For Carolina to win, they need to defend the three. They absolutely cannot let Duke light it up from beyond the arc. The Heels need to play with intensity for 40 minutes on the defensive end. Offensively, Zeller and Henson need plenty of touches inside. It will be nice if Barnes, Bullock, and Hairston shoot it well from the perimeter, but Carolina's adavantage is inside. They need to utilize that.

The Heels are playing at home, but that hasn't necessarily been a great advantage in this rivalry over the last few seasons. Guess we'll see what happens soon enough.
