As a fan- The Ohio State/Michigan State game in '98 sticks out the most. That was the only time I've been truly angry after watching a sporting event....

As a player- I was on some very bad baseball teams, and two games stick out- 1) A 48-4 loss to Parkway in an Acme playoff game, for some reason the run rule didn't apply and we just got smoked. It was embarrasing, but the one thing that sticks out is the Parkway players still stealing and bunting for base hits in the late innings.
2) A one run loss to Coldwater. The teams I was on usually were run ruled by Coldwater, but somehow we had a one run lead late in this game. We had one of their base runners in a rundown between 3rd and home, I tagged him out at Third, the morbidly obese ump called him out, then in middle of me making a throw to 2nd he changed his call. My throw ended up going into RF and both runs scored, and we ended up losing...

that guy...when was that against CW......wondering if I was playing...or coaching, for that game.

IN regards to parkway.....in the acme sectional tournament losers bracket games vs pw on a team I used to coach. The acme coach didnt like the spring coach for the team i was coaching. TWICE before the game he told me 'it isnt going to be personal to you, but we are gonna run it up on you tonite. He said that to me before the game at the cages, and then again at home plate right before the game. In what was funny....we ended up beating them and knocking them outta the tournament. After the game one of the umps asked me "did he say he was gonna run it up on you before the game? I thought that is what I heard!"

As a fan, the '98 MSU-OSU game or 2006 OSU-UF game.

As a player, losing the individual National Championship for OSU's Club Golf team on the final 4 holes at Firestone South. I was in 1st place after the first day shooting 75 in miserable rainy conditions on Firestone North, and was up 1 with 4 holes left at South before finishing Bogey Bogey Birdie Bogey to lose by 2.

It was in 1995. FR had some bad baseball teams in the mid-90's...

Yeah...that is true. That woulda been in between my stints with baseball. Did get offered the FR acme job around that time. Back then they paid the coach like $1400-1600. It was described as 'ya get paid 100 a game' and I was like....huh. Beef up the schedule to play 20-25 games and then the tournament and that isnt a bad little summer job. I was then corrected that it wasnt 100 a game, but it AVERAGED to 100 a game after the 1-12 game season and 2 and done in the playoffs.

As a fan there are numorous being a Cleveland fan however I'd choose OSU/FL in 06.

As an athlete, my senior year at the State Wrestling Tourn in 94 I lost my last match. Hating going out on a loss in my HS career.

Bruiser brunswick and Niekamp I believe were much better than HarTings. Pretty sure Jeff only went out for hoops as something to do to keep in shape for football. For those who didnt know...that St Henry, a public school, had Hoying (Ohio State, Eagles/Raiders), Brunswick (Toledo), Niekamp (OSU), Hartings (PSU, Lions, Steelers) who went DI from this small public school. They won state in football and basketball and a total of 3 titles. They also had a very good 4/400 relay team i believe. I think they had 1-2 guys go to smaller colleges as well.

An UNREAL team!

As far as Hartings...I remember him setting a pick on me late in the game.....many..it was like running into a brick wall!~

Did most of you not play high school sports or just not care about it? I seem to be in the minority, but if a team I root for has a bad loss, it doesnt bother me much more than a few days. I care much more about a game I participated in.

I imagine most are just internet dorks who wouldnt know which way to correctly wear a jockstrap!


Games I played in, and coached, seem to always be harder than ones you watched.

I think the two worst that I coached were as follows:
** BOttom of the last inning. 2 on. 2 out. Finals of winners bracket at districts (win this game and someone has to beat ya twice in the finals to make it to state), Oour best power hitter drives one to RC field and the CF for Crestview makes the best catch I have ever seen. On a full spring he climbs the fence, extends his arm and catches the ball with his waist at the top of the fence. He almost falls over the fence. He made the catch on what would have been a walk-off HR.

**State acme finals on our home field. HUGE crowd. We had to beat a juggernaut Bellefontaine team once in the finals. In the first game in the bottom of 7 we have 1st and 3rd with one out and I think our best hitter up. I am thinking we have at least a tie...but he hits into a DP and we lose...and lose game two and finished runners up.

Really? I would think participants in forums like this would have participated in sports in at least similar percentages as the population at-large, perhaps a bit higher.

I'm with you. I brought up a game to a friend of a friend at a party, and loved his response, which was "my happiness will never depend on a bunch of 20 year olds running up and down a field". Unlike him, I love the games, but take them seriously? Oh, hell no.

As a fan, a few stick out to me. Losing to shittsburgh in the 2002 playoffs. Fucking Droppcutt/Botch Davis and the prevent defense. Losing to the Raiders in 2007 because of Nat fucking Dorsey jumping off sides, and later that season missing out on the playoffs because DumbAss throws 4 INTs and RAC refused to take him out of the game/run the ball.

Tribe in the WS, fucking Mesa. Also losing to the red sox in the ALCS after being up 3-1.

06 National Championship was also pretty tough, but I'd say losing the two games in 2003 were worse. We were the best team in the country that year IMO and if Clarrett wasn't a dumbfuck I think we'd have won another NC.

I think the year was 1992, I tried to block out the memory. Watching Sid Bream side across homeplate as the Atlanta Braves beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL championship. DAMMMMMMMMMMMMM ITTTTTTTT.

As a fan, game 7 of the 1997 WS. I will never forgive Jose Fucking Mesa.

As a wrestler, believe it or not it wasn't my state finals match. There are two losses that still eat at me, and they both came my sophomore year of wrestling. One loss was in our conference tournament. It was in the finals. I got caught right away in a shitty head and arm, and the kid stuck me. Our team lost the title by .5 a point. The next week I wrestled that guy and beat him 14-3. There are plenty of variables that go into winning a team title for a wrestling tourney, but that loss still eats away at me. The other loss during my soph year was at the district tourney during my "go to" match to qualify for state. I had 2 takedowns taken away and lost by 1 to a kid I pinned twice previously during that season.
