First of all his lawyer was black so he has alot to do with jury selection . Secondly I hate to say it but if the jury was predominitly black ,he would not have been given a guilty verdict more than likely . Its called jury nulification . Years and years and years all white juries have been victimizing black people with biased convictions . It hasnt been that long where black people had to sit in the back of the bus or not be able to eat in white owned retaraunts. hatred goes both ways and so does blind prejudice

Thinthickbigred, I hear what you're saying above, but please understand one thing. As a black man I've seen and experienced racism and bigotry, however, I'm confident in saying that myself as well as a majority of black people would not have rendered a "not-guilty" verdict simply because the defendant is black or to reverse the "bias" somehow in our favor. It would be the job of his attorney, black, white, whatever...to select a jury of his clients "peers" in an effort to obtain a balance and avoid the possibility of bias.

It is not our point to sit on the jury to get even...It is our point to sit on the jury to get JUSTICE!!! There is a difference!

The Trayvon Martin case, although it's not sports related, perhaps you can now truly see what I mean about getting justice!

That is a sad situation and I certainly hope justice is served as I believe it will. My prayers to that boys family.

However, that wasn't a white on black crime, but still a horrible story.

Then you have Steubenville Big Red's Hall Of Thugs. Branko Busic is the latest to be enshrined. He did nearly the identical act as Hover High's Howard. Busic was to have been sentenced over a month ago but it appears he may get off of two separate armed robberies. Keeping in Big Red tradition of Gangs & Crimes we salute the Thugs who are idolized in " Little Chicago " AKA Steubenville.
more new......
STEUBENVILLE - A man shot outside of a downtown bar early Sunday morning has died as a result of his injuries.
Law enforcement officials confirmed for the Herald-Star that Quentin R. Nelson, 24, of Steubenville, died.
Nelson and Leroy Benjamin, 23, also of Steubenville, were taken to a Pittsburgh hospital following the shooting Sunday outside Pee Dee's, 160 S. Fourth St., City Police reported.
After the initial investigation, police Chief William McCafferty said the two men were standing outside the bar around 2:05 a.m. Sunday when a silver or light blue car drove by with two men, both wearing black masks, and shots were fired.
Benjamin was hit in the leg near the knee and Nelson was hit in the lower back, McCafferty said. The men were taken to Trinity Medical Center West and then flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The matter is still under investigation and more details will be in Wednesday's edition of the Herald-Star.
