Two of three! Great to get the Phillies without Howard or Utley. Without a viable offense, even their pitching staff becomes mortal!

2-2 through four games. Where they went against Cy Young winners in three of those games. All were one-run contests, win or lose.
Not complaining one bit. Solid way to start out considering how rough the opposition on the mound has been.

Great starting pitching so far.
I'll take 2-2 at this point and be on my way, facing Halladay, Lee and Kershaw out of the 4.

Through six games, the team is 2-4 and has only scored more than 2 runs in a game once. They had some good chances last night, but seemed determine to minimize their production and wound up losing 3-2.
McCutchen is probably wondering why the fuck he resigned for six years. Batting .408 and the only other guys doing ANYTHING offensively are Presley and McGahee. Walker and Barmes are giving us .060 averages in the middle infield, while Barajas is doing the same behind the plate. Pitching's been solid overall, but with no offense, what does it matter?

One hit by Cain. The only hit was by the pitcher. That makes pathetic seem awesome.

At least one team in Pittsburgh got a win in the past 7 days after the Pirates won yesterday.

They won last night despite only getting one inning from Karstens before he left with a sore shoulder.
They got 13 hits, which is incredible considering they were batting .188 as a team entering the game. Although, they still have three back-to-back-to-back guys under .100 when they have Barajas, Alvarez and Barmes in the line-up. 10 of the 13 hits came from three people (McCutchen, Jones, Walker).

13 hits. Probably should've saved some for the next 10 games. They'll need 'em.

Two straight wins after yesterday's 2-1 decision. I didn't have high hopes. Had to work in the early evening and when I left a computer, they were down 1-0 and had grounded into three double plays in four innings. That's kinda special in a sad way.
But they won. And that is good.

Another no-offense game. Alex Presley opens with a double winner: an inside the park homer in which a Cardinal player got hurt and had to leave the game. And then...nothing. 4-1 loss that looks worse because Hurdle decided Jared Hughes should get a third inning of relief work for some reason. That turned it from 2-1 to 4-1.

A.J. Burnett debuted on Saturday and kicked ass! They won.
Eric Bedard continues to have shit luck, falling to 0-4 Sunday despite having a 2.7 or so ERA.

Burnett did great in his debut. You gotta feel for Bedard. No fucking help.

Yeah. If he starts, the team will get a max of one run. Which is sad, the way he's pitched he probably deserves to be (at worst) 2-1 with a no-decision or something like that.

They won last night because Colorado was nice enough to stop having 500-year-old Jamie Moyer beat up on them after six innings. Damn geriatric bullies!

Split a doubleheader. I think they've tied a major league record for opening a season with 18 straight games where neither they nor their opponent has scored MORE than five runs in a game. Great for the pitchers, not so good for the offense.

Bedard finally got some run support last night. Pirates beat the Braves 4-2.
