Getting Snider in RF and Sanchez as the (I'd assume) backup 1B means that likely McGahee or Jones will be used as trade bait, since they're getting into a "too many guys" situation with 1b/RF.

Pirates also acquire RP Chad Qualls from Yankees for Casey McGehee.

Impressive part is that he's only at 83 pitches.

7 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball pitched by A.J. He got a standing ovation from the Cub faithful at Wrigley.

Pitch track showed it outside though. So hard to complain. I thought the catcher framed it well though.

Ended up seeing that on Sportscenter late last night. Both were outside. Good calls by the ump.

It's amazing they got Burnett for essentially nothing. Fuck the Yankees!

After giving up 23 runs over two games, he pitches a one-hit shutout to get things back on track.

Here we go, the big 3 game series with the Reds! Thank God Hurdle switched up Burnett and Bedard for Sundays game. Wandy goes tonight, McDonald Sat and Burnett Sunday. Hopefully we get the first half McDonald Saturday.

Reds up 3 1/2 games, they got to cool down sometime--this would be a good weekend to. Hopefully the Bucs can take 2 out of 3 but I think more realistically they'll take 1 out of 3. Just can't get swept.

I'd be very happy with 2/3 this series.

Buccos win 4-0 tonight. Bedard pitched 7 innings, gave up 2 hits and 0 runs.

3.5 back in the division as Reds lose 2 in a row.

Good way to close out the game last night. Had me worried for awhile with the score at 1-0 forever and the Pirates seeing how many potentially good innings they could botch with double plays.

Need to be great during this 11-game homestand. 8-9 wins should put them right back with the Reds.

Last night sucked. Hopefully, both Grilli and Hughes got their bad outing of the month out of the way together in one game. Having 2 of your 3 best relievers (possibly the two best, as both have been more consistent than Hanrahan...although he pitches in the most high-leverage situation) both implode and turn what could have been a good win (considering the Reds and Cards both lost) into an ugly loss is a bit of a bummer.
