Or maybe not deduct points from the person attempting the takedown, but reward takedown defense

Crosby youd appreciate this, sure you can tell me how accurate this analogy is, as you follow hockey and i dont. No clue who said it, as its a comment from mmajunkie
"Greg Jackson's camp is the New Jersey Devils of MMA. The NHL had to get rid of the red line because the Devils were so successful at defensive play. Sure they won alot, but they lost fans in doing so. Same will happen to the UFC. A new rule will have to come into play or else far too many fights will be lay n prays"

I am sick of strikers complaining about wrestlers! Learn grappling then. I see wrestlers working on their striking! BJJ and wrestling/grappling bases are must haves to be successful in MMA this ain't boxing!

So if you try and try and try for a take down and get stuffed...but finally successfully get one...it should be worth THAT much. Because thats pretty much how it is now

If your opponent isn't landing on the feet then yes

Lol that makes no sense. Takedown, stuffed, takedown, stuffed, take down, stufedf. Takedown...little to no damage /round win.

I said if there is no damage or strikes landing from the opponent then yes the takedown is gonna score. Sometimes the takedown is a straight up defense to stop the striking advantage, how can you fault a fighter for taking a fight to the ground when they are at a disadvantage on the feet? I guess being a wrestler I am bit biased, I see it as a way finally wrestlers are rewarded financially for their years of hard work homing a skill that really could take them no where professionally.

The New Jersey Devils are very defensive team and always will be. If they get a two goal lead they'll just play a neutral zone trap the entire game. Pretty much the same thing all of Greg Jacksons fighters do.

Why did they give Jon Jones a good opponent (Vera) and then back him down to another bum?

IMO Matyushenko is no bum, a good veteran fighter:

I mean I know hes a vet...But this isnt 2001-2003. Hes a 39 year old with only a handful of UFC fights in the last 4 years. Is he the same as he used to be?

I won't say he is the same he used to be but still a veteran fighter and a name for Jones. Jones is the next big thing and they have him on the slow slow track to a title shot. He is a marketable fighter and they are going to get his name out there slowly and let him climb the ladder.

Apparently some people don't want wrestling in MMA then?
Why not just call it small glove kickboxing then?

I agree with the "if you don't like it, don't watch MMA" crowd so far with regards to Evans/Rampage.
I hate Evans and am a fan of Rampage, and even I agree with them, if you don't want to be takendown/pushed against the cage, learn better grappling.
I also do agree that the UFC needs some form of "yellow card" like Pride used to keep the action going more towards finishing fights instead of just going for the decision.

I have no problem with wrestling. What I have a problem with is fighters like Kos and Evans who go for the takedown...then simply do nothing else. If you tackle the guy, and rain elbows and punches on him while controlling him more power to you and its great. If you just hold him there basically...yeah not fun

I would have no problem with the card system formally used in Pride. I do agree sometimes the action no doubt gets boring but you can see that at some point in any sporting event. I also think sometimes people see no action but at the same time have no clue what is actually happening once they hit the ground. Its not like you can just easily mount someone and blast away. At that level of MMA you need to be very careful once on top of where you are sticking your limbs or they will get broke off.

Not only that, but of all the "dominant" positions (side mount, mount, back mount) mount is by far the hardest to "keep" if your opponent knows anything about grappling. So yes, it is hard to just sit in mount and drop flying bombs.

MMA unlike most sports is not a sport you can just gain knowledge from by watching. Unless you have ever wrestled, boxed, BJJ'd, done martial arts of any sort then you have no clue how hard it is to control someone so you can beat on them. Too many casual fans want to see a boxing or a kick boxing match, that is not what MMA is or about!

Not sure which upcoming UFC even i'm most looking forward to. Can't wait to watch Lesnar and Carwin go at it at 116, but outside of maybe 1 or 2 other fights, the rest of the card doesn't interest me to much. I think 117, from top to bottom, is a better card. Although Silva/Sonnen doesn't have as much appeal as Carwin/Lesnar.

116 I will be buying, 115 I will find online and watch. The 2 free events in June UFC and WEC I will have to set up the DVR for as I will be out of town that weekend.
I really want to see Cung Le/Scott Smith II but I will find that online as well as the Fedor fight.
