Hate that stoppage but Herb is protecting the fighter. In a championship fight that needs to be let go, feel bad for Uriah as that may be it for his as a title contender. Barao is a monster.

Aldo needs to be just a little more offensive, he is clearly superior to his competition but picks his spots way too much. That Varner/Trujillo fight was insane. Sign me up for Reem vs JDS as well, would be nuts.

Apparently Faber had a torn hamstring in camp and his leg was still black and blue until 8 days ago, could only spar once apparently before the fight.

LOL MMA Junkie on Barao.
"One barrier to superstardom in the UFC is the language issue, though that can be overcome or worked around. There’s also the fact that he’s got a face for radio and about as much charisma or mystique as a bucket of house paint."

UFC IMO is a true global sport. The language barrier bothers me none, as long as they can bring it that is all that matters when I'm dropping $$s on PPVs!

Matters in marketing - I will say, I'd much rather watch a UFC Countdown without subtitles than with. Much easier to market guys like Weidman, Jones, and Cain than it is Barao and Aldo.Fab1b;1576171 wrote:UFC IMO is a true global sport. But to think that he isn't branded in Brazil, a nation of fighters? Who cares if he isn't marketed here, yes the UFC is based in the US and has more US fighters than other countries on the roster but looking at the UFC's direction I don't think this will continue to be the case. The Russians are starting to really get looks too and with TUF now in Brazil, Canada vs Australia, China, etc....it won't be just the US's product for long. UFC wants it global, wants the best fighter period, I don't think they honestly care if they speak english. Now does Nike, Gatorade, etc...care sure but like I said I'm sure they are marketed in their own country.

Globally it doesn't matter what language they speak. Here it definitely does. I'm with you though, I don't care that Barao, Aldo, Silva, and Machida don't speak much english because their fights are almost always entertaining.Fab1b;1576176 wrote:But to think that he isn't branded in Brazil, a nation of fighters? No doubt my man. They definetly can make more money in the US and I do agree english would assist with that factor but I don't care to hear them talk LOL, just knock somebody out for my entertainment!

Bringing rumble back is real surprise to me. I don't buy that he clean when he was getting down to 170, and he just seems like a shady character in the MMA world.
I guess he really isn't though, his only proven issue was always missing weight.

I don't think now at 205 he has an issue and he has looked good in his past few fights (though the competition was down)

i agree and am happy he is back. I guess just in my head I had written him off due to weight issues and the fact he was actually getting to 170 with that frame. God only knows what he was using to do that.

He was obviously using some diuretic that they weren't testing for to make 170. He will top 10 at 205 imo, he has tremendous power, good striking and wrestling and has improved greatly under the Blackzilians.

Thiago Silva was arrested yesterday. He got into an altercation at a gym and threatened people there. He was armed when he was threatening people inside the gym. Thiago then went home and barricaded himself in his home. Swat officers were called and eventually Silva surrendered

Some how I'm not surprised by a guy with a throat tattoo assaulting someone.sportchampps;1577521 wrote:Thiago Silva was arrested yesterday. Sounds like he had an AK-47 and went to the gym where supposedly his wife was cheating on him with Pablo Popovich, then he went home and barricaded himself inside. Glad no one got hurt, crazy ass story.
