Catholic, that's the problem. That is where so many people have problems with religion, it stems from Catholicism. I could go on for days about them.

You would have to ask each individual person.

As for me, I believe that the latter writings were embellished

Care to define more? Does that mean NT is out and OT is true or what?

And if so is it all of it or do you pick and choose like everyone else does?

I also believe everything has an answer.

Have you ever seen the show "the science behind the bible"?

Basically, that describes my beliefs.

Why stop there? Islam is pretty bad. Jews are weird(no offense MB), Mormonism is quacked out, Scientology is based on modern day fiction, etc.

Catholics make up their own rules and call it "the word of God"

I forget what it was, but they basically flip flopped on something being a sin twice in 1 year recently.

I find it funny that so many people who call themselves Christians rag on Catholics and yet Catholics are Christian. (Incoming "Catholics aren't Christian" post).

No, I believe that the Catholic church has gotten their hands on things throughout the years and put their own little BS parts in it here and there.

So now you are trying to defend Catholicism?

I don't know of any other religion that makes rules on the fly like Catholicism

So you believe there is some pure, true Bible that has been lost to time? (IE: The bible was true and then got fuckered with).

I hope you can see why that's hard for people to come to grips with as it seems a convenient way to denounce organized religion but still hold religious beliefs (no, I'm not saying you're in an organized religion just I'm not seeing the separation there).

Or some people just have different beliefs than others? I don't know why that is so hard for you to come to grips with.

They all do. Official interpretations of shit have changed all the time in all the religions. Catholics just have a public bureaucracy because well, they used to be the government essentially (still are in at least a tiny capacity).

For the sake of me not having to go steal that show right now, can you give me some passages/parts you believe to be true and/or quote or paraphrase some of the show so I can understand it?

Just saw the post above, will steal it.

It's always interesting when logic will never win their debate, believers are always quick to point out there right or entitlement to believe whatever they want.

Really? Never knew that.

Oh, you pseudo intellectuals who try to debunk spiritualism by attacking the man made elements of religion....like your freakin' finite minds are the pinnacle of evolution capable of disproving something beyond your 5 senses. You are a pimple of cells on a small planet circling a third rate star 2/3 of the way out from the center of one galaxy among millions of galaxies. Religion is about connection, and to that end, all that is important, is that you find your connection. It isn't about logic, it's about relationship. That you don't get it is nobody's loss but your own.

I hate agreeing with sleeper. But he's right, unless I say "you should not be allowed to have your beliefs" it should be assumed that I know you are perfectly entitled to believe what I want. When debating or questioning though people are going to challenge your beliefs/lack of/whatever and they should, sort of how that works. I'm not saying you aren't allowed to believe something if I try to prove or state that I feel it's hogwash, I'm saying I feel it's the wrong position. Just like people can and do disagree with me on any other topic.
