If not Beats for whatever reason, i'd go with Bose. I have a pair of both and they are great.

If you want the best, the conversation begins and ends with Bose headphones.

God damn it people.

Bose is similar to Beats in that they are not bad products but are certainly not the quality that their price would suggest.

You can get solid Bose over ear headphones for around $100....thats not breaking the bank.

I'd go Sony, lots of options and prices....you should be able to find something in your range.

I know you said no "in ear" headphones, but I recently picked up the Klipsch image S4s. One of the top rated earbuds on Cnet....awesome sound.

Grado makes amazing stuff.

Top one is $99 bottom one $79. I've only listened to the SR60i but the reviews on the SR80i are fantastic as well. Both of these headphones get compared to much more expensive ones pretty regularly.

Fuck Beats. Paying for the brand name. I've waited years to finally buy a pair of noise cancelling headphones. Got a pretty good deal for these ones on Groupon a little while back (not from Kmart, just first link I found on Google search). Same quality for a fraction of the price.
