Having been a player in the league Harbaugh knows how big an opportunity they let slip through their fingers.

Getting to the SB is so hard that when you're close like that you need to grab it because there is no guarantee you'll ever even get back to that point.

This game will eat at him for sure.

Both games were good but had very anticlimactic endings.

"If Kyle Williams wasn't born, we win. "

A buddy of mine who is a diehard 49ers fan just texted me that. Gave me a good laugh.

the game would be over?

I would guess no. The other team never had possession.

Rough week for the 3 Harbaugh brothers. Jim, John and brother in law Tom Crean.

^ Hahaha so pissed off.

My excitement level for a Pats/Giants super bowl is about a 1.5/10. The least excited I can remember being about an SB match up since Steelers/Seahawks, maybe since the Ravens/Giants one a decade ago.

So, has Williams offed himself yet? Turned over the ball by touching a punt that led to a touchdown and an overtime fumble that set up the game winner. Crap, Ike Taylor might feel a bit better about his playoff game performance this year after that!

Im not really looking forward to the SB either, but thinking about driving over to Indy Wed-Fri beforehand. My friends have an apt a block off the Circle in Downtown. It should be an amazing time.

In fact, Ive just typed myself into going. Its official lol.

Add chargers/niners to that list and you hit it dead on for me

BTW, why is Harbaugh taking no heat for Williams still being back there. I get that Ginn was out and the options were probably limited. But the guy DOVE for a catch earlier in the game and never looked comfortable. I would have yanked him after the dive, but certainly after it hit his knee. No reason for him to be returning in OT, imo.

I see your point, but how many guys on a team do you think a coach feels comfortable with? Ginn is hurt and Williams sucked, who knows who else has been fielding punts anytime recently.

Thats why I kind of prefaced it. Im not sure he had any options, but if he did, he should have used them.

I assume, with Ginn out, they had a back-up guy in place in case of injury? I dunno, just seemed odd he was still back there. He looked so uncomfortable. Gotta feel for the kid.

Maybe the guy who was bringing out the kickoffs? I dont know if what was Williams also or not.

It was Williams doing the kicks. I assume they have a few DBs and such practicing that, but who knows how good they were. Punt Returning is tough. The first one was just a dumb, dumb play. The second one, the defender just hit the ball at the exact second Williams went from 2 hands to 1. Gotta secure it, but really sucks for him.

Pretty sure Williams did kicks, too. After the knee-touch led to the NY touchdown, I'm sure it was him that had a 40-yard return on the ensuing kickoff.
