Should be at least 80, but then the easy revenue would dry up for the police who bust those hardened criminals..."The Speeders"!

Also, these speed limits were set in the 40's and 50's when cars weren't as safe or made to travel at high speeds.

Any modern car on the road today can handle going 75 mph on a freeway with no problem.

speed limit is already 70 on the Turnpike. Any wide open, 3 lane area should be too.

I live in Alabama and our POSTED speed limit is 70. Most people run 75-80. Most areas do not have any vehicle inspection for passenger cars so there are some real p.o.s. cars on the roads. I have been all over the US and I feel that most roads are good enough to support faster limits in suburban areas.I say go for higher limits!

Ohio's speed limit used to be that high in the 60's and 70's before the national speed limit was enacted anyway, and people drive pieces of shit back then.

I hate how it varies state to state. Makes driving cross-country annoying as hell when you go from 70 down to 65.

Should be 70, minimum.

I am all for it. No surprise the State Highway Patrol is against it.

If you can't drive safely at 80 mph you have no business operating a motor vehicle. The speed limit should be 80 mph.

Speed limit is still 55 down where I live and that's fine with me. I'm not in that much of a hurry, plus it sucks up gas even quicker the faster you go.

I think 65 is too fast.

Should be 50.

I vote no.

At 65 mph you're burning 10% more fuel than at 55, according to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. At 70 you lose 17% of your fuel economy, and at 75 it’s 25%. The numbers get worse from there. [LEFT]

Then they can lower the fucking speed limit when that happens?

It should be 75mph (65mph for trucks) on the turnpike, interstates, and at least Rt 23 from Columbus to Toledo.

Only those with high performance vehicles or nut jobs running from the cops venture above 100mph. I know I have been in the low 90's with a with a newer vehicle a few times and did get uncomfortable at that speed. 80 and under don't bother me a bit depending on the vehicle. Back in my college days I had a vehicle that sounded and shook like it would self destruct at any speed greater than 65.

At first look I like the idea of the speed limit being increased. After further review, I think that the more the speed limit goes up, the more lives will be lost by accidents. Speed kills, especially with all of the dumb asses texting, emailing, etc. 70 on major highways??? maybe...
