He may be the best QB coach in the world and has a solid history with the Browns.

Well he hasnt been in the league since 04. I see he has been a draft-training coach, and has worked with guys such as Weeden, Jason Campbell, Cutler, Brock Osweiler, Tebow, and Jimmy Clausen. Not a very impressive list, to me anyways.buckeyes_woowee;1348692 wrote:He may be the best QB coach in the world and has a solid history with the Browns.

Probably the worst group of QBs I've ever seen listed.

Detmer, couch, folder, frye, Anderson, Quinn, gradkowski, garcia, and McCoy is a worse list.

2 2nd rounders
Looks like he did his job in preparing for the draft.

Trestman has also coached:
Kosar at Miami (National Title in 83) and 2 years with the Browns. (2 of his best years)
Jake Plummer (probably his best NFL Season)
Rich Gannan (NFL MVP that year)
17 NFL Season (15 made it to the playoffs)
Won 2 Grey Cups in 5 years (playoffs each season)
It isn't like his resume is garbage. Also has connections with Lombardi who will probably be making the coaching decisions.

I was just responding to the previous post. He helped them train for the Draft. I pointed out that he did his job as they were drafted early.

Trestman did a great job the time he was here before. I don't know how well he would transition into being a head coach tho.

I am not sure how well he would either. He has been coaching well in the CFL but obviously that is at a complete different level than the NFL. He was really close to getting the Colts gig but they went with Pagano.royal_k;1348804 wrote:Trestman did a great job the time he was here before. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Josh McDaniel as the next Browns coach

From the sources I have heard from, McDaniels has no real chance of being coach here, but the Lombardi to Cle is not as far fetched (but nothing for sure yet).

If he actually wants to coach id take him in a heartbeat. Just as long as we get the Andy Reid of old who knows how to use pwn RBs.

Moving forward, if Joe Banner or Haslam have any designs on any 3 or 5 year rebuilding plans like the previous regime they need to scrap them now.
Cleveland fans want to see some urgency, and this town is going to scream bloody murder if they try that slow no urgency approach we have been stuck with for years now.
Indy and Washington have both went from being shitty to the playoffs within a year. The Bengals it took 2 years. Seattle 2 years.
Is anyone else tired of seeing all these other cities be able to turn around bad situations so quickly? Why is Cleveland the only city in which it always has to take some long drawn out plan that never ends up working anyway?

It all depends on what kind of philosophy the new HC wants to implement. If they scrap the WC offense and go to more of a spread (shot gun) it could take a little longer. But IMO that kind of offense is what this team would excel in.

All that plays a role. I was just putting out there as a general feeling going foward that the honeymoon period in many ways is already over.royal_k;1350289 wrote:It all depends on what kind of philosophy the new HC wants to implement. It is not Haslam and Banners fault that we have had 13 years of incompetence, but they can't be tone deaf about it like Holmgren was that people just aren't going to give them years and years to show massive progress.
They have to understand that the fan base has no patience, and be aggressive accordingly.
The lack of urgency I thought was a huge killer of the Holmgren regime as it turned the fan base on them because we are tired of losing, and tired of seeing quick turnarounds everywhere else while being told to eat shit and be patient.
I just don't want to see the same mistake made again.

So you've lost a decade of your life following the Browns. So who cares if it takes another decade. After all, we dominate in baseball and basketball....you can't expect to be great in every sport you know.IggyPride00;1350278 wrote:Moving forward, if Joe Banner or Haslam have any designs on any 3 or 5 year rebuilding plans like the previous regime they need to scrap them now.

When are people going to realize that the majority of New England's success is due to Tom Brady and The Hoodie?

Also, for all the talk about the tough schedule, browns played 4 teams that would currently be drafting top 6.
