The only thing I would have agreed with Shurmur doing, is if he pulled Weeden in the 2nd half when he was blowing ass and put McCoy in there, and we got the win (because we would have)...then come out right away and say Weeden is starting week 2 and is still our guy. Spin it as an injury, I don't care what it is...but we had a chance to be 1-0 for the 2nd time in 14 years, and we ruined that.

And don't give me the rebuttal "that would hurt him emotionally" He's 29 god damn years old, if he would get all sad over that, then he shouldn't be in the NFL.
You are giving shurmur too much credit to think this is even a possibility He is too dumb to do that, and he would let the Cleveland media run wild.

Lol, true.

Maybe they could spin it as "we thought that was Weeden out there, but I guess it was McCoy"

A coach isn't going to do that in a rookie's first NFL start. I agree with your comment about Weeden should have the emotional maturity to handle it though.

Most people think Shurmur is a Derp as it is. If he pulls Weeden in his first game, he's pretty much confirmed it.

That would have been an actual smart move by derpmer. They would have won the game.

Buddy of mine went to the game and got to meet Bernie. Said Bernie had a huge gut and was playing catch with Slaughter. He said Bernie couldn't catch the ball from Slaughter at all lol. Also said Bernie seemed wasted in true Joe Nameth on MNF football fashion.

I wish Kosar would just STFU with his Facebook posts about Modell. Browns fans don't want to hear Kosar praising that guy of all people.

Agree with this....and I don't think it hurts him to sit behind McCoy for a few games and see what the NFL is about. Annointing this guy the starter without having earned it was a mistake. It's one thing if he was a top 5 pick and you had no other option, but that's not the case here. I don't like throwing away the first part of the season so that he can get his feet wet. What if this guy continues to suck ***? Then you really have shot his confidence, ...and a lot worse than if he had to carry a clipboard for a couple of games.

I honestly think palying Mccoy probably would have won as that game--especially as bad as Philly's offense was playing. But you drafted weeden to be your qb, so see what he can do. Haslem's sitting to the side and watching this season intently, and almost certainly (and hopefully) will clean house . The sooner the better. Does it set you back another 3-4 years--probably, but this Holmgren/Heckert/Shurmur has shown so far thay are NOT the answer. The "talent upgrade" that we've had the last 2-3 years?? spare me. All we have are a bunch of rookies who can't get the job done, compared to veterans who wouldn't get the job done. I thought holmgren was going to be the savior, but he hasn't shown anyone anywhere he can make it as gm/president. He could coach, but no track record anywhere else. I'll trust haslem to get the guys who can do it. How much worse could it be than this? These guys are as bad as Shaponetti. Everything is spin--no results.

BENGALS:
Middle linebacker Rey Maualuga didn't come away impressed after watching tape of
Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson. “He can run you over and you can
miss a tackle, at the same time, from what we've seen he didn't do nothing
spectacular,” Maualuga told
CBSSports.com.

“From running screens, missing passes, trying to find a hole when he's running
the ball. He just didn't do anything spectacular from what I've seen.” I
double-checked and made sure this was Maulauga and not Jim Brown talking. This
is funny because Maualuga "didn't do nothing spectacular" in the season opener
against the Ravens. He managed five tackles in a game where he got continually
blocked by Ravens fullback Vonta Leach.

Mike Florio today said Shurmur is on the biggest coaching hot-seat in the league right now, and that only a trip to the playoffs is going to save his (and the rest of the front office's) jobs. Aside from wanting his own guys in place having bought the team, Haslam was apparently disgusted by what he saw this weekend.

I kind of wish they would just fire him now as I would like to see what the team looks like with someone else in charge to judge if the talent is really that bad, or Shurmur was just truly that incompetent. If Chilly looked equally as inept, then it is assuredly a talent issue. If he had them functional, then it was a Shurmur issue. I almost think that needs to happen just to get a better feel for where this team is at.

TOP 5 THINGS I WANT HASLEM TO DO:

1. Bring in an established head coach that has actually won games and been to the playoffs in the NFL as a head coach.

2. Continue to build this team through the draft built for a 4-3 defense, and an offense that can score touchdowns...I don't really care what offensive system is ran... just score some freaking touchdowns!!

3. Find position coaches that can coach these young guys how to be successfull not only in the systems/style of football we run, but be successful in the NFL.

4. Put turf down on the field....the grass field looked terrible for a week 1 game.

5. Bring back the orange pants and put an alternate uniform in the mix.....just don't touch the helmet!

You know this isn't going to happen, correct? If it were to happen, the soonest would be around mid-October when Haslam takes over.

Holmgren will be gone once Haslem is approved. Banner is ready to step in and he stepped down from the eagles for a reason. Once Holmgren goes, heckert and shurmer will be gone after the season. I'm hoping that polian will get hired to be the gm

I was thinking around mid-season. 4-6 games would be enough of a sample size for them to get a feel of where the team is really at with either Chilly or Jauron in charge.

Once Joe Banner is in place the purge will be more likely to begin.

That would be a huge home run, and who I was hoping they would have pursued when they brought in Shurmur.

Gruden would fire this town up, and being a somewhat local guy (born in Sandusky) I think he gets what the Browns mean to Cleveland.

Not to mention it would put an end to the corpse like Head Coaches we continue to bring in that have no charisma or excitement about them.

Romeo/Mangini/Shurmur always looked like they were at a funeral coaching this team (I guess in some ways coaching the Browns does that to you). Gruden though would bring some desperately needed personality to this town.

I get the sense though that Haslem is going to try and do the Steeler thing and pluck an obscure assistant from somewhere to show the world they are smarter than everyone else as opposed to going with an established name brand hire that has actually one something in the league.
