All I want is a competent offensive coordinator. Is that to much to ask for?

That is still the most stunning thing about the Holmgren regime to me.

When he came here I thought if nothing else, even if we sucked that we would finally have a fun offense to watch after so many years of misery offensively (other than 2007).

Had you told me then when he came that over 3 years into his tenure we would literally have regressed, and had the worst, most unwatchable offensive team in the NFL I would have thought you were an outer space alien.

The whole thing was just so mis-managed. Detroit was winless in 2008, and by year 3 in their rebuild they were looking like a serious up and comer with all the core position pieces in place. The cupboard was bear when Holmgren got here, but no where near the level of that winless Lions team. Still have never understood why the rest of the world can manage a rebuild in a timely fashion but in Cleveland it always has to be an open ended never ending process.

Any of you guys have madden?? How the hell do I play a season??? Do I have to do the career mode and pick a player or coach? Or am I simply missing it?

Coach career mode is the new franchise and they eliminated the fantasy draft. It's basically entirely geared to online play. First madden I bought since 04 and I'm very unimpressed.

If he plans on following the Steeler "formula", this is what he'll do. Noll, Cowher & Tomlin were all up & coming assistants, I believe. Besides Mangini, I can't ever remember the Browns hiring a head coach that had previous pro coaching experience in my lifetime.

Gruden would fire this town up, and being a somewhat local guy (born in Sandusky) I think he gets what the Browns mean to Cleveland.

Romeo/Mangini/Shurmur always looked like they were at a funeral coaching this team (I guess in some ways coaching the Browns does that to you). Gruden though would bring some desperately needed personality to this town.

season ended a week ago. The qback was 8 for 26 with 3 picks at that point.

If Weeden starts off badly on the Browns first few possessions, would you bench him for Colt?
Wondering if the Browns will leave him in the entire game against the rival Bengals.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals: So the NFL has given geeks like me a fantastic new toy: All-22. It’s basically coaches tape from all camera angles of every play of every game. My first experience using it was re-watching the Browns-Eagles game, with the faint hope that I would find some positives for the Browns offense that I missed the first time.
Much like the disturbing revelation that nude beaches are not packed with nubile coeds but in fact gathering places for hairy 50-something men and their poorly groomed lady friends, the game tape was a huge letdown. As bad as Brandon Weeden’s numbers look on paper, he was actually worse on tape. His receivers fared even more poorly on second review, unable to get separation and not running sharp routes. The offensive line was okay but not exactly a pretty picture either. The Cleveland defense was very good, but it was clear that DC Dick Jauron had spent ample time devising an opponent-specific game plan. Now he has just a week to face a very different offense, one with a quarterback that can actually read coverages and throws with a reasonable degree of accuracy. Oh yeah, the best player on the team, corner Joe Haden, is suspended for the next month. That equals a great week to use A.J. Green in salary cap fantasy leagues. If you’re bold, this isn’t a bad time to use Cincy in survivor leagues either. Bengals bounce back with a 23-10 home win.

I'm interested to see how Richardson bounces back this week....He is not used to being on a team this terrible, and you could tell he doesn't like to lose.

I checked on a stat for the Browns passing offense. Going back 6 games including the season opener, the Browns have thrown for a
whopping 2 TDS passes.

The guy on the receiving end is no longer on the team, Evan Moore.

Well...if he "doesn't like to lose" he needs to pick up his skirt and show it. He wasn't exactly a "bright spot" in the offense. The O-Line was far from stellar but T-Rich left some plays on the field (missing holes that were open). He actually reminded me of the Hardesty that we saw last year in the way he was running.

I totally agree! He has to play better himself. Not making excuses, but it was his first live game action in the NFL, I will give him a chance to bounce back and be the T-Rich he was at Alabama.

Can't we have a "happy medium?" All McCoy wanted to do was check down and it seems like all Weeden wants to do is wing it down the field. Have no issue with stretching the field but until Weeden can prove he can consistently make those throws AND the receivers can get open, some intermediate stuff wouldn't hurt.

I felt like there were a lot of plays that Weeden could have dumped to TRich for a good chunk of yards. He does that, and maybe he opens up the field, however he didn't.

a) I'm skeptical that Weeden could consistently make that pass and b) I'm skeptical that Richardson can elude a defender. This might be one of the ONLY teams in the NFL that can't consistently pull off a screen pass.
