Having a debate with my friend, I realize they are both pile of shits, but I honestly think Brian Dumboll would call a better game with this current "talent" than Shurmur can. I honestly cant think of one good half shurmur has had as a play caller.

1) Picked up Cincy's defense for my fantasy team this week.
2) Weedon could be either Favre or Derek Anderson. Peyton Manning had a 3-13 record his rookie year including a win over Ryan Leaf, Troy Aikman was 0-11. I take no stock in wins and loses this year.
3) Haslam will have Banner take over soon and hopefully hire the correct coaches.

It's always the play calling isn't it? Never the blocking, running or passing? Gimme a break. Shurmer sucked on Sunday for one reason. He didn't yank Weedon when he should have. Hits R Us nailed it. He had time to throw. Airmailing a guy 5 yards open in the endzone has nothing to do with the playcalling.

Regarding wins and loses this year I agree. I don't expect much. What I do expect though is for our QB not to throw 4 ints in games and to be able to make simple passes.

You're right wins do not matter. His horrible passing does though. Looked worse than Charlie Frye out there

Ummm, where did I mention anything about the game? The debate was purely based on shurmur vs daboll as play callers. Please play correctly. Thanks.

I thought that Weedon would throw 15-20 TD's this year, but fully expected 25-30 Int's to go along with that.

You would rather have the pass fall short or check down to the RB than throw into the EZ?

Haslam Steps Down As CEO Of Pilot Flying J

By DARYL RUITER, 92.3 The Fan Browns Beat Reporter

September 11, 2012 11:28 PM

CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – It appears that Jimmy Haslam III will have a little more time to spend on the Cleveland Browns.
Haslam is stepping down as CEO of Pilot Flying J and will be replaced by PepsiCo Inc. President John Compton.
Compton’s departure from PepsiCo was announced Tuesday by the company.
“I have deep and personal ties to Tennessee, and my family’s plan all along has been to return to Tennessee at some point,” Compton said in a statement released by PepsiCo. “It isn’t often that the opportunity arises to run one of America’s largest private companies, and this new opportunity was a once in a lifetime chance to do so. This is something I just had to do.”
Pilot Flying J is based in Knoxville, Tenn., and operates a chain of truck stops in the United States and Canada that generates more than $30 billion in revenue.
Haslam has served as CEO of Pilot Flying J since 1994 and will become chairman of Pilot Flying J and Maxum Petroleum the company said.

His father, Jim Haslam, who founded the company in 1958, was given the title of founder and chairman emeritus.
Haslam agreed to purchase the Browns from Randy Lerner and the Lerner Trust for $1 billion on Aug. 9 and was introduced in Cleveland the next day.
Haslam will reportedly acquire a 70 percent controlling interest in the Browns while Lerner retains 30 percent of the team for 4 years following the closing of the sale.
It is believed that Lerner is retaining a minority stake in the team while he pays off existing debts, including to former executives and coaches.
NFL owners are expected to approve the sale of the Browns to Haslam Oct. 16-17 in Chicago.
Since the sale was announced and Haslam was introduced, he has been very visible around the team and busy meeting with fellow NFL owners to learn the business of football.
The move by Haslam, who said that he plans to spend time in Tennessee as well as Cleveland, will likely free him up to become more intimately involved with the Browns.

No he shouldn't have. NO coach is going to yank a rookie QB, who this regime sees as their future, after THREE quarters. Let me repeat, NO coach.

As much as you have this wet dream to see Lil Pony back in there at QB, I highly doubt it happens. The Browns KNOW what they have in him. He sucks. Can he get this team maybe 6 wins? Perhaps, but he won't get them any more and in that case, what's the sense in putting him in?

Weeden is the "unknown" and they have decided to hitch their cart to him. If he completely sucks, then all of the "we NEED Barkley" jock lickers might get their wish. Weeden may end up sucking in the end but there's no sense in playing McCoy. We know what he is and it sucks.

Why? King is right. Everyone on here saw it. Richardson was slow & tentative. There WERE open holes. Not many but he left yards on the field. I thought B-Jax gave them the best chance at RB. Again, Shurmur probably should've let T-Rich sit another week.

Agreed. I absolutely wanted no part of drafting Weeden, but you can not bench him. McCoy's time is done and I wish they would have traded him just to avoid this talk. I do believe that the Browns win that game with McCoy at qb Sunday, but this front office made their decision and they need to see what Weeden can do.

I honestly believe that Haslem will clean house at the end of the season, so we will have new coaches and more than likely....another qb next year. What a mess.

I generally agree, as far as saying Weeden needs to be the guy this season...I get that and agree.

The only thing I would have agreed with Shurmur doing, is if he pulled Weeden in the 2nd half when he was blowing ass and put McCoy in there, and we got the win (because we would have)...then come out right away and say Weeden is starting week 2 and is still our guy. Spin it as an injury, I don't care what it is...but we had a chance to be 1-0 for the 2nd time in 14 years, and we ruined that.

And don't give me the rebuttal "that would hurt him emotionally" He's 29 god damn years old, if he would get all sad over that, then he shouldn't be in the NFL.
