This team can never catch a fucking break. Gotta love how adderal in the offseason is just as bad as taking steroids to help your performance DURING the season, but it is not as bad as having 8 criminal charges on your record. What a joke.

Regardless, I hope it was worth it Haden.

After seeing Cincy's secondary get dissected last like I have a bit of optimism for the passing game this week. Granted, Weeden was awful but Cincy's DB's won't blanket receivers like Philly's.

I don't share the same optimism. Baltimore looked unstoppable on MNF at home, the Bengals had no chance. They still have a good defense, and being at home they'll shut down this offense. Just have to hope Trent just had a bad first game and comes out on fire Sunday.

The Ravens actually had the threat of a run game for the Bengals D to worry about. With Haden out, it makes it even tougher for the Browns to stop AJ Green. I am hoping with one less day of prepartion the Bengals are very sore and come out flat. Doubt it though. Even if the Browns play better the whole game, Shurmur will find a way to lose.

I think the Browns receivers will be able to get open. Hopefully, Weeden a) doesn't stare down receivers and b) throws it to the right team.

My biggest concern is no Haden and AJ Green. Green should have a field day.

From what I've been hearing by people at the game, it seemed like the WRs were getting open on Sunday.

In Weeden's defense though, I've also heard the o-line weren't giving him a) much time to get it to them and b) not enough room to step into a good throw.

Weeden can throw slants all he wants, but in the NFL you have to be able to have some composure in the pocket, step up, and deliver a good ball over 20 yards. Unfortunately, I don't see him being able to do that (knew this coming into the draft).

I heard the same thing about open receivers. Heard he'd stare down a primary target while other guys were open. Actually heard he had Watson open for 6 when Marecic dropped that ball.

Agree that he can't live & die with slants. Defenses will take that away quickly.

I just think he will have more opportunities this weekend with Cincy's secondary. Hopefully he takes advantage. I just hope they can establish SOME kind of running game so he's not slinging it all over the field.

The QB situation is not good in Cleveland. The running back (Trent Richardson) is damaged goods. The (offensive) line is horrible. (C Alex) Mack is not bad, but the two guards are not very good and the other tackle is bad. All they have is (OLT) Joe Thomas. (Jason) Pinkston is terrible — he is just a guy. I gave him a free-agent grade coming out. (WR Josh) Gordon flashes, but he is a train wreck waiting to happen. (QB Brandon) Weeden will be like David Carr in three years — he’ll be shell-shocked and unable to recover from it. He was that way at Oklahoma State.”

Per Twitter: "SI_PeterKing

RT @caplannfl: Trent Richardson left lots of yards on field. He couldn't put
his foot in the ground+explode. Clear watching a second time."

I can't imagine any team being sore when they only wear pads one practice a week.

I can imagine them being sore after a NFL game though. Especially after the beating the Ravens put on the Bengals.

LOL at giving Rodgers-Cromartie the game ball. Give me a fucking break. Jordo would have looked good against Weeden on Sunday.

As noted before...Weeden had open receivers...he just wasn't seeing them or hitting them. And he did have time...a lot of time compared to what McCoy had last year. For all their running game ineptitude, the OL kept Weeden upright pretty well.

I have not been comfortable with the whole Brandon Weeden thing from the beginning...from reaching for him at #22, to the continual annointing him as the starter without ever having done anything to deserve the job. I guess, by drafting him that high, they went all in on him....something that doesn't sit well with me. If they had drafted him at #37 (or whatever the next pick they had was) and he came in and had to win the job in training camp, that would be one thing. But this way....it just seems like a stupid way of running a football team. They are way overcommitted to him for their own good and the good of the team. Shurmur said, " ...he is our starter and he will get better. "
Of course he'll get better...how could he be much worse? And what if he doesn't?

No he didn't. I'll be the first to admit Weeden sucked but he he pretty much had someone in his face constantly. Pinkston, Lauvao & Schwartz sucked and even Joe Thomas got owned by Trent Cole for a sack. Still no excuse in that he has a quicker release than McCoy so he should be able to compensate but implying he had a lot of time is false.

From the nose bleeds...it seemed like he had plenty of time. Run blocking was terrible though...and the full back sucks

From the ProFootballFocus article I posted...

No Protection
Part of the problem that led to Weeden’s terrible day was the constant pressure he was under. One of the key matchups in the game was Mitchell Schwartz going against Jason Babin. Predictably, the rookie right tackle struggled to slow Babin down and finished with a -4.7 overall grade and a -2.9 pass block grade. Both offensive guards struggled to handle the Eagles’ defensive tackles in pass protection too. Shawn Lauvao (-2.4) and Jason Pinkston (-1.4) will both need to be much better if Weeden is to get a chance to develop.
