For that matter, Art and Pat Modell did plently in the community with their charitable work.

I'm quite sure that Jimmy Haslam can and will support local charities and be a positive influence in the Cleveland area. Let's hope he makes it even better by putting together a top-flight organization and a much-improved product on the field. If that happens he could be the best executive Cleveland has seen in many, many years.

Not really dreaming about it...just saying doing that and getting an Andrew Luck is a lot better than having 8-8 seasons year after year.

When did this happen? Did I miss the memo? Browns fans should be tickled to death with back-to-back 8-8 seasons after the shit sandwiches we've been eating since 1999.

Sorry just because we've been dogshit doesn't mean i'll settle for mediocrity.

And it didn't happen, it's just my prediction for the Weeden era. Obviously I hope i'm wrong and he's the next Peyton Manning...just don't have much confidence in me being wrong here.

I think you know me better by now than to think I'll settle for mediocrity. I'm the one who wants to win NOW, not tank a season so we can get Mark Sanchez Jr (Barkley).

As you all probably already know, I wasn't a fan and still not a fan of the Weeden pick. That being said, he really doesn't have to be "great," or "elite" for this team to compete imo.

It looks like the Browns are modeling their team off of what the Texans have done. Great defense, great line, great running game (both of their RBs do great), and set up the long pass with the play action. Schaub isn't a "great" QB imo. He is good though, and the line/running game makes him look a lot better imo. The Texans were the best team in the AFC last year imo, until Schaub went down, and they still were very competitive with their 3rd string rookie QB. I am hoping at the very least Weeden can provide what Schaub has done for the Texans, that's of course assuming the Browns line and running game is great, which I think it very well can be.

Which is funny because you know pre-draft when they compare who a player to be drafted can be compared to (currently in the league)? A few said Weeden's upside was that of Matt Schaub.

Well stated. Even TJ Yates moved that team...and he has nowhere near the natural ability of Weedon. You need talent to move the ball in the NFL. You also need offensive geniuses to open up holes in the secondary. Barring injuries, the Browns have both.

We have already been slugged in the mouth losing GoCong and for a half season, Taylor. We need to stay healthy.

Well, I hope he has more upside than that, but if he contributes as well as Schaub has for the Texans, I don't think we will be disappointed. The only elite QB in the division (and I hate giving the POS scumbag credit) is Rapistberger.

I have no idea. And from what I saw last year, neither do the refs. It just seems that any "decleater" somehow draws a flag these days.

It's sounding like Taylor will be ready to go by week 6.

That would be excellent, because our run D blows. Hopefully a healthy Ward will help though.

I don't think you give schaub enough credit. He's an easy top 10 qb when healthy.

I never thought the Texans as anywhere near the best team in the AFC, even with Schaub.

Everyone knew it was going to be NE, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore.

I didn't. They were a hell of a team with Schaub, and should have beaten Baltimore in the playoffs without Schaub. They already took care of Pittsburgh.

I don't agree with that at all.

I think with Shaub they are the most well rounded team in football. Great running game, good passing game and a very good defense.

Meh

They were good no doubt, but not great...and I had Foster on my fantasy team so I loved them. Never thought they'd come out of the AFC over the other 3 teams though.

Well, I never thought that the Pats defense would hold up, and you never know what Flacco will do....and you most certainly don't know if big ben is going to stay out of jail...so I thought they were the safest bet.

Agree 100%. Until they established that 1-2 punch at RB their offense was Schaub/Andre Johnson. Now, with the running game, a helluva defense AND the Schaub/Johnson combo, they are the most well rounded team in football. Had Schaub not been injured, I'm confident they would've been the AFC rep in this last Super Bowl.

+1. I can see them being the AFC rep this season. Their division became very weak very quickly.

And in 2009 Schaub threw for 4700+ yards, 29 TD's/15 INT's...In 2010... 4300+ yards, 24 TD's/12 INT's....would anyone be "ok" with those type of stats from Weeden along with what T-Rich is gonna put up on the ground? I would.

Shaub is solid....having a great back and an elite receiver makes him that much better. Lets hope Weeden has these weapons soon too.
