Yea I have no effing idea what that pick was about?? He's listed as 6'2 309 but is projected a 7th rounder...When the Texas drafted DeVier Posey, Schefter said the Texas would shop Jacoby Jones. Think the Browns are going after him? I am not going to guess what's going to happen anymore...I've guessed a wr since pick 22 haha

Not a Browns fan, but I 100% agree with SportsAndLady's thoughts about the Browns draft strategy. I'd have gone Blackmon, then OLine or RB then the other, and get another WR. Get the weapons this year, find out what you have in McCoy, and if he sucks you go strong for Barkley next year since you already have the pieces for him. I like Weeden and Richardson, just think the Browns didn't go the best route in trying to change this offense.

yeah, I was on the Blackmon bandwagon too, but I was fine with Richardson. Now the rest of the draft has been iffy at best. If they really wanted Kendall Wright, they should have moved up to grab him.

As of now, they are a better team than they were last year, but still the worst in the division and honestly, drafted the worst of all the teams in the division.

If we were bad enough that we were in a position to get Barkley next year, the entire regime is being fired and the team is being blown up.

Last year was the "evaluate and see what you have" freebie year. They all would have lost there jobs had it happened again this year, and we would be back at square one.

That is the part of the equation many propnents of that strategy seem to ignore.

I agree that they are better and also have the worst draft of all teams. Really don't understand how they think this is the way to turn them around. I think Weeden will be the 4th best qb in the division, possibly better than Flacco in 2 years, but think at best he's on par with Andy Dalton, maybe just a hair better. Like S&L said, you need a top 10ish QB to win in this league and I don't see it from Weeden, especially with those awful WRs, though they could change that next year.

But this is still probably a 6-10 team at best, in which case by your theory the regime is still gone and blown up, and now we'll be starting over with a new regime and 30-yr old 2nd year QB who we either stick with or just blew a 1st round pick on. So the logic appears to be flawed. Unless 4-12 blows things up but 6-10 is good enough to move forward?

So you agree that this is not a good long term plan? To win next year this might be the best way, but definitely isn't the best long term plan IMO.

Yeah I like Richardson I really do..I just don't think an impact RB is going to win you too many games. Titans, Vikings, Jaguars, Rams...what have they done since CJ, AP, MJD, and S Jax were at their respective teams?

And definitely agree on the AFC North. The Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens all drafted very well. The Steelers upgraded their biggest weakness-O-line. Love the Courtney Upshaw pick and Bernard Pierce is going to be a good spell for Ray Rice. Everyone knows my love for Mohammed Sanu, he's going to be awesome next to AJ Green. Last again :(

The long term plan should have started 2 years ago.

There is not a single rebuild in the history of the world (that has worked) that waits until year 4 to get a QB. Not one. The turnaround starts to happen only when the QB is in place.

If Tom and Mike felt no urgency for the past 2 years to not a get a QB, then it's their fault and reeks of stupidity.

If they are a competitve 6-10 at the end of year 3, they maybe get another year if the team looks close.

Had they been 3-13 this season they couldn't be brought back because we would have went through another season with a non-competitive team that would still be a long way off that would like need to mortgage 3 years of number 1 picks if they were drafting anywhere but #1 to get a QB.

It was this year or bust for them because on a 5 year plan if you aren't at least looking real competitive heading into year 4, then it didn't work.

That's sadly a byproduct of putzing around for 2 years showing no sense of urgency and no progress.

The QB should have been the first thing they did when they got here, and they ignored it.

That is why they are in the position they are where there division rivals can draft BPA because they all 3 have their long term franchise guys. Put Colt on any of those teams and they win 6 games.

The QB makes that big a difference, and waiting this long to address it is malpractice. Another year like last is a fireable offense, and clearly they saw that.

Why, Browns? Yes, he's a good player, but backs don't decide Super Bowls anymore. And you gave up picks? C
I think C is low. I agree about backs not deciding Super Bowls, and agree about giving up picks to do it (Lamar Miller and Chris Polk are both still available heading into round 4 if that says anything about how low RBs are valued now), but I would give that pick a B to B+.

The point remains though, nobody wins Super Bowls around running backs anymore.

I think too many Cleveland fans would be happy just to not suck. I don't give a shit about going 7-9. The goal is championships. And I know you have to be good before you can be great, but you need to have the foundation to be great in place, and I don't see that being built with an old school RB and the oldest QB ever taken in the first round.

By the way, Prisco gave the Weeden pick an F. I've only looked up 2 draft grades, and that's what they both gave that selection. Very disappointing.

So, do QB's decide Super Bowls? What decides Super Bowls? Eli Manning has two Super Bowl rings, but people always credit the run game and defense for both his wins, mixed in with some timely throws by Eli.

Peyton is arguably the best QB of our generation and he has 1 ring to show for it....

As I said before, Rivers, Ryan, Flacco, Sanchez, Cutler, Romo, Vick, Young, Leinert, etc... None of them have really made much noise in the postseason...


So what decides Super Bowls?

Trent Richardson was a no brainer. No way that pick should get anything less than an A. And so what if we gave up ATL's 4th, our 5th and 7th? We basically got the 4th back.

People will bitch when the Browns trade down, such as last year when we traded down and selected Phil Taylor. They bitched because we didn't draft Julio.

When the Browns actually move up to get their guy, people still bitch.

It's amazing.
