He was a lottery pick ,I think they had expectations that he would be a knock down 3 pt shooter and he hasn't been. He is also shooting Free throws 6% worse than in College. I think it is the same distance in the Pro's.

My guess is that he expected Wall to come in like Rose, and Wall has been hit a bit by the injury bug in his young NBA career.

Rose: 16.8 ppg, 6.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 0.8 steals
Wall: 16.4 ppg, 8.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals

I'd say Wall was better than Rose his rookie year. His team just wasn't a playoff team.

I find it comical that people think Wall isn't that good. Dude dropped over 8 dimes in his rookie year and plays on one of the worst teams in the entire league. Yet he's overrated...

Its common that people don't think he's good? Perhaps he doesn't get the pub that Rose got because he plays in Washington on a horrible team but I haven't heard any negativity towards him other than he misses games.

He can't shoot (40% & 29% from 3's) and he turns the ball over (4 per game, 2nd most in the league) way too much and has one of the lowest assist/turnover ratio's in the league for pg. I expected more for a #1 pick.

Derrick Rose's Assist/TO ratio last year was only 0.08 higher per game than Wall's. Rose only shot 22% from three his rookie year, and he was a #1 pick too.

You're making it out like Rose was unbelievable his rookie year, and he very well may have been better than Wall, but he didn't really make the leap to great until this past season.

When did I say anything about Rose?

My bad, I guess I confused CoA's post a few posts back with something you said. Now that I brought it up, though: did you think Rose was disappointing his rookie year, or did you expect Wall to be a better rookie than Rose coming in?

I used "isn't that good" in place of "overrated." Maybe it's because he had some sky-high expectations, but still. Perception by most is that Wall had a bad rookie season...and if you saw his numbers and watched him play on a trainwreck of a team, it just isn't true. In-fact, he had a very good season given the circumstances...

Rondo and Kevin Love are the main two for me.

I'm one of the only people it seems that would have taken Durant over Oden on draft day.

Growing up, Lou Roe was a surprise disappointment for me just because of how solid he was with UMass.

But that was before I understood concepts like not really having a pro position because of being too small to play an NBA power position and not being skilled enough to move down to a 3.
