You know your bad ass when the mascot gets arrested and then is the focal point of the national championship parade. I hated Miami but they were one of the best ever in the 80's.

Great documentary. I have a new found respect for Miami after watching it (especially when compared to Florida and Florida State.)

And as someone else said, the mascot being arrested was hilarious.

Good stuff. I still can't stand Jimmy Johnson though but I have always been an Irvin fan.

I should have added this but when I googled for that picture I found a story behind it. I guess he was sneaking up on the Florida State Seminole with a fire extinguisher trying to put out the flaming torch. When he got close the police threw him up against the fence and then that picture was taken.

Not only did the team think they could get away with anything but I guess the mascot too!

Fred Garvin, I believe it is on a few more times in the next few days, search your listings.

Pretty good watch IMO. Just finished it earlier. A lot of race got injected into this, which was kind of disappointing. (at one point you have a player saying the media was giving the many fights they got into air time because they wanted to show that the university was a bunch of black thugs). Seconds later Michael Irvin refuted it but there were other instances where the players were reaching a little bit.

I wish I was a little older and could have watched those teams live. The swagger would have been fun to watch. One of the best sequences was when they were talking about Jimmy Johnson running the score up on Notre Dame during Gerry Faust's last game

I watched it last night. It was good. The job that Schellenberger did was incredible. To turn a program around that quickly is unreal.

I agree... you could see the huge regret he had for leaving for the USFL. I find it funny that they ommitted all their bad years though in the documentary. Like Johnsons first year.

Heard B Kosar on Cleveland radio saying that one of Schnellenberger's recruiting classes had 10 future Pro Bowlers in it. Not 10 NFL'ers- 10 Pro Bowlers.

Good show. What's funny is that I am old enough to remember those teams and followed cfb closely, yet I don't remember it being quite as outlandish as the show made it out to be. I do remember the fatigues thing, and although it was a big deal, it just seems bigger now since that would be an automatic no-no.

Being a little more old school, I don't care for the lack of class those teams displayed, but I do admire the hunger and desire they brought to the game. As a coach, I wish I could get my teams to have that type of hunger and pride, but without all the nonsense and lack of respect for the game.

Man I miss those times, some people say it's what was wrong with college football but not in my opinion. I hated Miami, but they backed up their talk, and their celebrations and trash talk was genuine. Not like the acts you seen in the NFL right now and you don't see anything remotely close in college. I would love to see some teams with the swagger they had back in the 80's and early 90's.

I'm sure coaches outside Florida are stoked to see South Florida, Central Florida, Florida Atlantic, and Florida International sprout up to draw some of the talent away from the likes of Florida, Florida State, and Miami. Ohio State has a monopoly on the talent in Ohio, can you imagine if one of those teams had a monopoly on the recruiting for the entire state of Florida? Imagine teams twice as good as Miami's 2001 team. Holy shit. I'm sure coaches are rooting for the smaller schools in Florida to grow so they keep talent away from the sleeping giants that are Miami and Florida State these days.
