Haha reminds me of a friend of mine. He was married went to Afghanistan for like 2 years came back and his wife had cheated on him and such... they are now going threw a pretty nasty divorce(they have a son). Well his wife's current boyfriend is now also going to Afghanistan but I think we all know what will happen there.

I had a friend join the Navy and he was pissed when he found out he was getting stationed on a ship... I was like uhhh where did you think you were going when you joined the Navy?

Yeah, what did he expect? Seriously...what did he expect to do? I know many people hate those damn ships. My brother was in the Navy for 7+ years and never was stationed on a ship. But then again.....he was a Navy SEAL and to be honest...those who came from the fleet to try and be a SEAL all used the motivation that if they failed (of which 85% did fail) they had to go back to a ship!

I don't really know what he expected. He was just someone I used to work with and still friends with on facebook and he was complaining about it on there.

I read Foreign Affairs. Not sure it qualifies as an academic journal per se but it's a great investment of one's time.

EDIT: No, resident OC pervs, it isn't about sexual affairs in foreign countries.

I don't think he was planning to go to Afghanistan when he got married. But his wife is bat shit crazy and about two months after he got married he told everyone he was shipping out. I'm guessing he volunteered.
