Thanks for the firsthand news, Woo. It's always more reliable coming from someone who was there rather than someone who simply heard...

You know it's comical, in his time at Wooster, McCreary actually fielded a winning record in a pretty sizable sample. 10+ years at a program with a winning record is not done by a "bad coach." Yes, the Generals have struggled recently and haven't beaten Orrville in 7 years, but obviously in order to post an overall winning record, he must've done SOMETHING right in the past. I'm glad Wooster was able to hire someone that the kids believe in, because regardless of how much talent there is, without hard work it will all go to waste.

Give the kids some credit. There have been some very good athletes at Rittman since the 70's. Richards was brought up, and I remember him being a VERY impressive player. In fact, didn't Rittman have a WCAL POY recently, Brandon Bauman? He must've been a "good player" in order to receive that honor. They may struggle on an annual basis, but it's not because there is no talent, it's because of the reputation and lack of support/encouragement.

Question 1: Who WOULDN'T want to be at Norwayne right now? Defending state champs!
Question 2: Who WOULD want to go to Smithville after this whole mess? Yikes!

I have to think that they did the first round of interviews in good faith and although they may have had a preference before they started, those people had their chance to blast him out of the running and they simply didn't do it.
If that isn't the case, then there is more wrong with the program than a new coach can fix.
I see your point. It would be very rude to have someone fly into town merely as a formality. It's a shame it was a wasted trip!

Confidence is one of the first steps towards success. Just make sure you aren't overconfident.
THE4RINGZ;1065816 wrote:I can't find your post right now to quote it Dr. Knowitall, but yes Haas has been my choice all along.
I am familiar with both him (my two sons played for him), and the Wooster program. I believe he was the best choice.
Again, firsthand knowledge is always appreciated as, more often than not, it is much more reliable than secondhand information.

Reference what I said about being overconfidence. Do your talking on the field, bud. Leave the message board chatter to the guys that WON'T be on the field...

I'll give you credit for being passionate and making bold statements, but you're starting to blur the line between bold & outlandish.

BOLD---Wooster will be #1 in the OCC after week ten of next season
OUTLANDISH---No team will be able to run or pass on them
Really, the only place to go from here is predicting a state championship (by shutout, of course)
Agreed. While it is definitely critical to be confident in your coach and your team, it is VERY unlikely for a person who hasn't walked in years to get up and win a marathon. It takes time, hard work, and patience. I'm not saying that Wooster won't change things this year, but to expect an unstoppable defense and run at a state title (I know this was Red Rum's addition) is silly talk. Wooster should simply work to put the right practices in place, and success will surely follow.
