Dustin Hoffman and several other recognizeable actors...

I can't figure out what the point was tonight, though. Aside from horse racing, obviously, I don't know what this is about.

I'll give it a few weeks, though. HBO has a lot of fine series and there are a ton of good actors in this show. Just watching previews of subsequent weeks and there's even more people I've seen on various tv shows.

Seems like there's some Casino/mob angle. I guess HBO sticks with what works!

I dvr'd it and plan on watching it soon. Had to watch Boardwalk Empire, Homeland and Dexter first though. Luck is low in seniority right now.

Watched the first 30 min of this pilot and was so bored with it I had to turn it...HBO is pretty all hit no miss though so im sure it'll be good..I too was trying to figure out what exactly it was about..season starts in late January.

HBO missed big once. It was called 'John from Cincinatti'. I think it lasted all but 6 or 7 episodes before they cancelled it.

Really it was like jumping into the middle of a series - a pretty lame pilot, honestly. Watching the 60 seconds or so of previews at the end tells you more about the show than the pilot. From what I'm able to discern, it seems Hoffman's shady group is going to leverage the track into a casino and then mob mayhem will ensue.

Yeah I did flip over for that 60 second season preview and that's when I decided to give the show a try...cuz after watching the first half of that pilot I had already given up on it lol

Haha, forgot about that one.

Very interesting cast. There's Hoffman and I think about a dozen or more B/C list actors (mostly from television) I recognized in the previews. Not sure if a number of them aren't cameos or short-runs, though.

I think this will be good. Hoffman doesn't seem like he's done anything in a while, but I still doubt he's desperate enough to sign-on for anything that wasn't first-rate.

This is my thoughts. If Hoffman is willing to do it (and combined with HBO picking it up), it must be good.
