jamr,
well said. Orrville also has a bigger business base that has always been supportive of OHS sports. (Banks, car dealers, factories and a certain jelly concern). Most if not all have ties to OHS or see the economic benefit of being generous toward OHS.
Not to say the rural county schools don't have supporting bases, but it's more individuals than businesses.

I did not attend any of the Norwayne turf meetings but from what I hear all of the ground work is done. There is a committee in place handling all of the details. They met with several turf companies and know who they were (are) going to use. They have everything covered it's just a matter of funding. I think they will get turf, it's just a matter of when. My understanding is ,if the funding would come through, the field would still be done this year. The company guarantees it will be done in 8-10 weeks.

Meaning ground would need to be broken in a month...6 weeks at the most. Not a lot of time to come up with 600k, especially if Schar isnt in for 4-500k of that.

A Norwayne parent suggested to me this evening that it doesn't look to viable at this time. She had hopes her son would play his senior year on turf, but it is not sounding like it will happen .......not this year at least.
Im curious if it was Bobcat Mom.....
Also had a wise guy holding up the fence boasting Norwaynes O Line will average 240-250 and "we will just see come fall"......another Bobcat fella suggested there is no skill position kids at Norwayne. LOL

Big news coming out of Creston. Miyagi has heard from a couple of reliable sources that an undisclosed donor has come forth and has donated the funds to build a giant spanking machine behind the visitor bleachers. This is to be used by underclassmen only. Project is to be started in a couple of weeks and should be done by 2 a days.

The Norwayne line pulling a 240-250 average could be possible.
The "no skill" kids remark is totally insane.....Harris, Beery, Zimmerly. Those 3 have more upside than some WCAL teams complete roster.
I also heard the Spanking Machine is a go.
Talking returning impact players-
NOR...the fellows mentioned above
NWN....Nolletti & Smith
SMV...Bates
WD...Stanley & Strassbaugh?
the other teams and guys I'm forgetting from the above teams.....help!

Dont forget Berger....and I too have heard from a reliable source the "spanking machine" is a go. Its going to save headaches for upperclassmen and still get the job done.

That was not Bobcat Mom you spoke with Beast. I can assure you. She's my wife and wouldnt come on here for anything. I was, however, telling you the truth about our lack of skill players.....wink wink

No. It was going to be, but the school board voted it down.
Yeah, Shane and Buss looked pretty good this year for their fiew carries. Don't know how an increased work load will treat them, though. With more action comes more of a beating, and those guys weren't nearly the bruisers that Steiner and Hilty were this past year.mt1514;1166096 wrote:For Smitville impact players add. My favorite Bobcatmom quotes-
"And to the derrogatory references regarding Creston- ("Crest Virginia", "Crestucky") I reside in Creston. My husband and I both have Masters' degrees. Likely a higher level of education than some of the individuals who posted the comments"
"Would love to, but i sit in the "reserved" section. Lol. Stay warm tomorrow night."
"I would like to make a comment on the people who posted about Smithville staying classy- i sat directly across the field from a sign that said, "HATE RED". Found that to be quite distasteful."
"I am sorry, i didn't catch the name of the middle school you attend."
"My job here is done. Good luck to all tomorrow night. And demoralizer, go hug your mom."

In the spirit of trying to get a picture of the returning "impact players" from each team. I'm starting a list
Here's the latest updated version
NWN- Nolletti & Smith
NOR-Harris, Zimmerly, Berger & Beery
SMV-Bates, Shane, Kurtz & Buss
WD-Stanley & Strassbaugh
HILL-?
RITT-?
DAL-?
CHIPP-?
keep the names coming.

The obvious one for Dalton is Chase Moyer. So many of the skill guys that played last year were 9th graders, so it's a little hard to tell on them at this point

Next time you see me, you really should get Curty's sweater or some other type of "red carpet" for me to walk across.
Bobcat Mom is your wife....or the lady I spoke with is your wife? How do you know who I spoke with....i talked to many people yesterday. Was you with the BOE member or are you the BOE member? Truth about skill players or are you winking in a flirtatious way. Just never know with Crestvirginia folks.

Come on now Beast your complicating things. The lovely woman that you spoke to is my wife and she is not Bobcat Mom. We've attended several wrestling tourneys. I believe someone told her that there is a guy that refers to himself as Beast.....and pointed you out. I think you know who the BOE member is. That is not me. The wink was definitely in reference to our lack of skill players.
By the way Congratulations on the State Championship. Never gets old does it?

Last night Tommy Williams was hired as Hillsdale Elementary principal. As a requirement of the teacher union contract he also had to resign as football coach. If no one on staff applies he will be able to re-apply and he would then have to re-apply every year.
