Since the gimpy cat eater dumped the pickem on me I plan to do it. However week fours results will be slow in coming. Fair week in Ashland County and I am busy keeping Beast out of the sheep barn!

He simply did not have enough talent to win the one year. My son learned more from Matt Zuercher on what it take to succeed and how a young man should live his life than from any other person he came in contact with in jr. high or high school. For that we will always be grateful. Looking back, these lessons had nothing to do with W's or L's but in how you respond to each of them. Life will knock you on your rear-end. It won't always be a "winning season". Coach Z is trying to get these kids ready for life. Real life. Some kids realize this and will push on. Others give up because the road is too hard.
Well said.....

To make the Norwayne game not so much of a gimmie for everyone, you have to give the margin of victory and be with in 20%. :p

Hillsdale (Beating Waynedale and Fairless isn't a big nod of confidence)

NWN (2nd easiest game to pick)

Norwayne (Easiest Pick)

Chippewa (They don't go down without a fight...Rittman... eh...)

Sr (3rd easiest pick)

Madison (I could have went just as easy to Wooster.... Madison will have a hangover... how much?)

Triway (Closer than you might think)

Ashland (This one pains me. I think W.H. is better. History is with Ashland. It's on the turf. Ashland has extra weeks of practice because of playoff runs Ashland finds a way. I hope I'm wrong)

Kirtland

Massillon

This will be a big week for the hillsdale coaching staff with being fair week and having a big game with smithville. Fair weeks are always the toughest week of the season for coaches when you have so many players and family members active in the county fairs as we do in Wayne and Ashland county's. Hard to keep the kids attention and attendance with showing animals that the have worked with all summer long

What kind of adjustments/adapting are all of these other coaches making? Are you around this program/school on a daily basis? Do you ever see the things that Coach Z does for these kids off of the football field? How many times he gets up in the wee hours of the morning to give a ride to ANY kid that asks to go to lifting workouts. You should see the things he does with them as an assistant on the bball team. Have you ever notice any of that? Or do you listen to the fence huggers? The majority of these kids don't respect any of these coaches. That is the problem here...can't you see that. When the going gets tough, our kids/parents make excuses.

"Decisions have been made to spread all the freshman out and put Reibe in as quarterback over Strausbaugh #2? Has the death of the freshman class already begun?" What does that mean? I have been to a few jv/freshman games and I thought Reibe has done a good job. He has got a good arm and is a good leader. Am I wrong? I am sure he, along with his dad, will tell you he isn't the best athlete in that group by any means but he doesn't seem to do anything stupid. Call me a moron, which I probably am, but I have to believe that "Strausbaugh #2" and "Stanley #2" are going to be the horses of this program for the next 3 years. Why not get them both ready now? Those 2 studs in the backfield will be fun to watch in the future. Then you add Antwan on the perimeter? Wow, that could be interesting.
So I now see how this works....As long as I am telling the "truths" about the boys and their parents I am right but the minute I start telling you actual conversations from the boys, I am wrong. I can't be that far from the truth. Just ask the school "librarian". He feels the need to run and tell Coach Z everything he hears!
As I said before both of my boys played for Z. Past tense. They have graduated. I do have a daughter still at the school and I am close to a situation. Plus just like everyone else in the school distric I have been following that freshman class. Have you figured me out yet?
I like Zuercher. always have. He has even brought my boys home a few times. That's what these forums are for right? everyone put their 2 cents in? I'm not making excuses for the boys. I told it how it is.

As far as the quarterback issue. Anyone that has watched any one of their games since peewee can tell you the Strausbaugh#2 belongs at quarterback! He can read a play better than Riebe and can make adjustments in the pocket. I feel that Stanley#2 should be the team leader but Strausbaugh #2 is a close 2nd. Reibe is by far the best basketball player out of that class. Maybe football just isn't for him. And as far as Ant-Juan goes....the other boys will catch up. I don't think he is as big of a threat as everyone is making him out to be. Just ask the other coaches in the league.

I think whoever said the thing about the point differential was kidding. By the way, I can never find the original post of what this week's games are. I always just find someone else who posts the full match-ups and highlights their winners, and copy theirs.

You make no sense whatsoever. One sentence you are praising the guy and then the next sentence you are ripping him. This coach gave your son's rides and genuinely cared about them but now you feel the need to list all of his faults. What a joke!

However, the best part about your post is the fact that you have everything figured out after week 4 of their freshman year. You are a genius. YOU should actually be the coach! I am going to call the AD/principal tomorrow morning first thing and let them know that they are missing the boat by not having you run the program.

I am telling you right now that Strausbaugh #2 is not a leader. He is a great athlete and does some nice things on the football field, but just tucking and running it, ISN'T reading a play or making adjustments. He matured before most of these kids and we have seen this happen before everywhere but I am telling you, these freshmen are slowly catching up to him. Which is actually good for us...isn't it? If I am not mistaken, the Reibe kid has thrown a fair amount of td's this year in 9th/JV games and has done a pretty good job of not making many mistakes. Not bad for playing a sport that "just isn't for him", huh? I think a lot of coaches would love to have a qb like that. His accuracy/arm strength is better than any other players right now. Ask any of the coaches. It really isn't even close AND he is only a freshman. Plus, think about this...did he even play any qb at all in middle school? According to you, Strausbaugh #2 has been the "man" since pee wee so I don't think anyone else got a chance. BUT, your best thoughts are about Antwan. The other boys will catch up? Do you realize that Antwan hasn't even come close to his full potential? Then you said he isn't as big of a threat as everyone makes him out to be. Did you see him at the 9th grade game @ Orrville? He was BY FAR, the best athlete on the field. We are talking about the kid who won middle school state track championships in the 100 and 200, right?

Oh yea and by the way, I figured out your identity. Good job football dad....

I just finished reading the Waynedale saga....
And I must say, everyone seems to be true bear fans who are voicing discord in the proper forum....the internet. WCALfan, is the lone exception. He seems delusional.

WCALfan.....You are defending an undefendable position. Every coach catches hell when they don't win, it's part of a thing called LIFE.
You have every right to voice your opinion as well but running around setting up meetings with fans and coaches???? That's insane and counter productive to the coach. He probably doesn't care, and if he does, he needs to go. YOU are the one who is acting irrationally...everyone else is following the natural order of an unsuccessful season.....Geez, people can yell all they want but you're actually interfering. Take a valium and your place along the fence with the rest of us.

Delusional? Irrational? Do you really think I am going around setting up meetings? You can't be that dumb!

Counter productive to the coach? So having parents express their feelings about a coach, and believe me they aren't just doing it on this forum, is productive? I guarantee they are also complaining loud enough so the kids hear it. Boy that really helps the situation.

The natural order of an unsuccessful season? So it's natural to just let morons, who have no idea how to lead young men and teach them skills that they will need to survive in the real world, criticize the efforts of a coach? Criticize a coach for taking time away from his family (Coach Z has a newly born daughter) so he can help mold them into young men. That's natural?

It is easy to be a hero on the internet and blame the coach for all that is going wrong with a team when they are losing. I want to see them actually say these things to a coach's face. Especially with their son sitting in the same room. I want to see that happen. Yeah right!
