Do you put them up? I hate them. It's retarded, if you ask me. I'll put the tree in the window, but I don't see the point of decorating my damn house with Christmas lights.

IMO christmas lights are for other people to enjoy, not me. I have no interest in standing on a ladder in the cold trying to string up lights for everyone else to enjoy.

Plus my lights always look like shit and my neighbors look amazing.

But my wife loves them, so I'm fucked.

You may have given me an idea for another thread, though. So if I start it, you can blame yourself. The thread would be asking, "why do non-christians celebrate Christmas if the holiday was started to celebrate the birth of Christ?" I'm not saying that you celebrate Christmas, but I know that there are many non-Christians out there who celebrate Christmas. Anyway...

A lot of Jews celebrate christmas as well. Christmas is no longer a religious holiday, not surprised that went over your head.

I did the entire front of our house one year. Since then I've only done the railing and pillars on our front porch. I might just skip it all this year unless my wife really wants me to do it. She's retarded for Christmas, I could take it or leave it.

So, "unless my wife really wants me to" is code for "she bitched at me until I couldn't take it anymore"? My advice to you is do it before she even asks. My husband and I fight about one thing. Christmas lights. It's getting pretty bad right now, but he has told me yet again, he'll do them today. I'm not holding my breath.

I enjoy looking at Christmas lights but I've never had to put them up anywhere. Maybe that will make me like them less when the day comes.

I like them. It doesnt take a whole lot of time to just do a few along the front gutters. 4 nails. 1 on each end and 2 in the middle. Dont go overboard. With Christmas Lights, imo, less/simple is more.

Those damn icicle lights across the porch and 2 net lights on the shrubs at each end of the porch. 15 minutes and it looks decent.

I did not have much use for them beyond a tree until we had a child who loves them, changed my whole outlook on them.

I put them up each year because my wife and daughter love them. Is it a pain in the ass? Yes, but it's only a couple of hours each year so I deal with it.

I put them up because of the wife! However, my neighbor thinks he's Clark Effing Griswold and lights up the whole damn neighborhood.
