Just because he is a kicker doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to win, it just means he wont. He has 3 game winning kicks(compared to Cams two wins total) and is statistically having one of greatest seasons for a kicker EVER, as a rookie.

Anyways, doesnt surprise me that you guys take everything somebody says so literally.

Moving on......

I got my numbers from the NFL.com rookie page, which I guess wasn't updated for the last week, so it's actually more like this:

Cam has 650 more passing yards, 1.2 more yds/attempt, but still a ton more 20+ yard plays. And again, there's no reason to discount the rushing stats. He actually has 21 TD and 16 turnovers. He's fumbled 5 times but only lost 2 fumbles.

Also again, they're 2-8 because the defense is atrocious. 5th in the league in total offense.

Vince Young did in 2006, and Cam has already eclipsed his passing and rushing stats, and throws for a much better completion %.

I'm a HUGE Newton fan, don't get me wrong. However, I do think his performance has had a lot to do with the fact that they have put the ball in his hands and let him simply sling the ball all over and run the ball whenever he sees fit. While it's impressive he has been able to put up numbers in the NFL as a rookie, his team is 2-8.

He's one of the few rookies who has never had to worry about really playing for his job or trying to fit into a team that is trying to contend. The Panthers basically started from scratch with a whole new staff and by taking Newton #1 and shifting the offense into his hands. He hasn't been on a leash from day one which isn't going to lead to a successful season, but may lend itself to allowing him to put up big numbers.

Andy Dalton wasn't the sure-fire starter from the get go and the team he's on wasn't expected to contend. He's now earned himself the starter role for the next decade and his team is sitting on a playoff spot.

Not disagreeing, I think Newton is a better player, but Dalton isn't given enough credit for actually being a rookie QB with a shot at the playoffs. 90% of the time that simply isn't feasible for a rookie, and more often than not in those situations, the QB is more of a liability. In Dalton's case, he might not only make playoffs, but do so along with throwing for 25 TD's...

ROY is an individual award. How good your team is shouldn't be relevant.

Carolina went 1-15 last year. They completely blow. They're probably going to win 3-4 games this year, and they've been competitive almost every week. Dramatic improvement from last season.

While I agree it's an individual award, opportunity also dictates individual stats. Right now, I agree Cam has the best argument but we'll see how the votes go.
