I think that we would find out that the WCAL is not that good. Norwayne has been great as of the last few years and they are not done yet, but put Norwayne in the OCC and they are not undefeated IMO. Put Orrville in the WCAL and we will become used to that level of play and get blown out when the playoffs start. This is obviousley just my opinion and many will not agree. I do not want in the WCAL for any reason.

My feelings as well rrfan. I want no part of it...I am quite sure we would be very successful in the WCAL but come playoff time we would not benefit from playing the likes of 4 or 5 of those teams. Orrville tradition has been built through the challenges we have faced and conquered over time...what kind of challenge is there in playing 80% of the WCAL?!

I think the challenge is with the "Student Athletes" to do the work. Live in the weight room, throw, catch with each other all summer. If you are not the most talented you better out work everyone. When you have a really special year you are talented and out work everyone. That is where "Rider Half" came from. Orrville will get you because you will get tired and Orrville kids will keep going. Rider Half is made in the summer and I hear a lot about what a hard working team this past year was. Talk is cheap and attendance is not work!

Truth is I am sure we will never see it.

Series I believe All ohio referenced conference games so he would be right. 7 conference games times 5 years is 35! How's that for an Orrville Education?

And Series this is not even close to being about economics-it's whether or not Orrville can compete in the OCC hence the reason I said Shelby and Ontario which are teams we can compete with!

RRN, I understand your point of view, I know it wasn't you that brought up leaving the OCC as an economic reason. There were others that used that "reasoning".

i cant keep quiet, this is a fact not an opinion. It took a state championship team of Norwayne to beat Orrville. Not there average 6-4 or 7-3 team. Norwayne is so great where is the call to schedule us, we have an open week. I dont think Kent is getting any calls from their A.D.

I think we NEED the bobcats on the schedule for a few years!!!!! I do see the point in saying the greatest Norwayne team ever beat Orrville. Remember the old AOL? Wonder how many conference championships Orville had from that conference and in how many years? I bet those numbers drove Orville out..... Just a guess. Where is red rider 1 when you need him? LOL

I agree it took Norwayne's greatest team ever to defeat an average Orrville team. We were good that year but not great . we have had far better teams in the past , I wonder how Norwayne would've fared against some of those teams.

Orrville's freshman would beat Norwayne, year in and out. :laugh:
But really the old Orrville teams would have rolled those old Norwayne teams. The last 2 year's Norwayne teams would have been just fine against the great Orrville teams of old....and Orrville would have been 3-4 in the WCAL this year. that last part was a joke....kind of.

Don't know if they would've been "just fine" but that's just my opinion. Also I'm pretty sure we would've beat Waynedale, Rittman, Dalton, Chippewa and likely Smithville this past season...as I see it, would've been at least 5-3 in WCAL. Again, my opinion.

Honistly I would say you are pretty close

Orrville is down for the first time in a long time and people are enjoying it from all the WCAL schools. I take that as a compliment.

Most definately...kinda like the Yankees, people either love'm or hate'm but you gotta respect'm. I think that's where we sit here in Orrville. I gues we gotta put ourselves in their shoes...imagine if all you read about was how good the Riders are every season. Kind of overshadows all the other area programs, until the past 2 years. That everyone loves it when we lose is absolutely a compliment!
