68-64 Riders over CF. Winters had 27 which has to be a career high.

On to The Pit.

Dunks and blocks from the big man, great effort despite the attempts to manhandle him.

Finally!!! It's so nice to see Winters dominated a game.....this is what he is capable of and realistically what he should be doing every single night.....being 6'10" you should have your way with anyone and everyone. Let's hope he turned the page last night and we see a different player from here on out.

Keep it up Devin, and the rest of the Riders!

Amazing what he could do if he would quit seeing bounce passes and off the mark lobs, but it would help if he had more muscle and weight on his frame.

Agree. Winters is only averaging about 10 pts a game. If he can get us 15 plus a game and Brenner keeps his average around 14 a game along with the bench and role players we will be tough out in the district.

When Winters and Brenner get in foul trouble...the Riders are in trouble.

Keep working hard boys and beat Triway tonight!

I just looked deeper at pits stats and we were 5 of 6 thru 3 qtrs and 4 of 13 in the 4th , then 5 of 7 in the overtime, so 9 missed in that crucial 4th quarter and we looked ugly shootin them.

Make free throws and the game is over in regulation.

Triway shoots better than 30% (21-70), and it's over in regulation. Neither team had good shooting nights at the free throw line (Triway only 12-20) nor the field (Orrville was only at 39.7% shooting). Both teams played sub-par games, and both teams had chances to win. It went into OT and the Riders pulled it out.

my guess is triway is shooting less than 25 from three point line. I do believe they were 1-22 the night before against Manchester. We have 2 bigs inside who are shooting 55% from tthe field shooting two pointers. Why we get away from that is beyond me. Especially after Winters and Summers fouled out. I think the triway boys surprised their coaches when they made it a game in regulation and they had to start coaching again. Why didn't we run four corners instead of letting Orrville do it to us.

Two of our non-3 point shooting players are shooting 58% and 54% from the field, but last night shot a combined 8/27. A 34.5% 3-point shooter (52% overall) went 2/10 from the field.

We were only 15/43 (35%) on 2-pointers, including a combined 8/22 on 2-pointers from 2 kids shooting 58% and 54% from the field. So it wasn't only the 3-point shot that was lacking. But like I said, NEITHER team shot as well as they normally do both from the field and from the stripe. It was a very even game, and both teams fought in regulation and in OT. Orrville made more plays last night and earned the victory.

It was told to me that Orrville's victory in the "Pit" on Saturday was the Riders first win there since Hiller and Brenner's junior year...03? 04?

  • 2003-'04 season was Hiller & Brenner's junior year (my Junior year, also). Orrville won.
  • 2005-'06 was when we won by 39 or something crazy like that (yep, 91-52). We finished 26-1 that season.
  • 2007-'08 looks like an Orrville win according to MaxPreps, 66-56. I couldn't recall this one and had to look it up. Neither team was very good that year. Triway lost in the district semifinal to Norwayne at Wooster, and Orrville lost in the sectional final to Alliance in Canton.
  • 2009-'10 was I think when Triway's Zach Houmard hit the last-second shot in the key for the win.
Speaking of the 2003-'04 game, many of us Triway fans/players still remember a certain Triway Senior soccer player stepping aside and letting Hiller throw down a monstrous dunk as time expired. One of the worst displays of pride I've ever seen. I'm not saying knock him down or even foul him, but at least get in his way and change it from a dunk into a layup. That's always bugged me.

Anyone heard of any possible games added to next years schedule when it expands from 20 to 22 games?

I think that's a done deal. Not 100% sure but thought I read that in the OHSAA board minutes within the last year.
