...... Can't believe Orrville would do this to a kid....... A family moves to better their lives and Orrville's feelings get hurt and they try to keep a kid from playing?....... Why have they not kept all the kids who moved to Orrville from playing for their own school? Shame on Orrville..........

Just to let you know Orrville High School had nothing to do with this 300 and kardiackids, this is a new rule by the OHSAA this year. If a student transfers to another school because of athletics it is not aloud, they are really starting to crack down on this. I would like to know how Orrville stuck it to neer mr. 300?

Coach, I'm not gonna comment on this anymore until the OHSAA makes their ruling on things.

So who says that he just transferred for athletics? If the family moved, I just do not see what is illegal about it. Maybe I am just really confused.

Mr Russell, lets give it a few days until the OHSAA has their decision. Then we can put all the cards on the table.

The Neer kid is a very good player, imo. Congrats to WH for getting him.

Where is that WH basketball thread, again? I can't find it.

300- I am fine with that, I really do not care either way what happens. Mr. Russell there is a new rule that says you can not just transfer to another school for athletics only is my understanding and that is why this is being checked out, is what I heard. Anyway this is an Orrvile thread and Neer is not a Red Rider. Moving on, I think the Red Riders may surprise some people this year, thats all I am saying for now. Go Riders!

Whoa, Nellie. He was a sophomore and got his chance to play and show what he could do. He played the amount he was due. AAU tends to foster unrealistic expectations and everyone knew the next two years he would get to start if he progressed. For some reason they decided to leave when it was his time. That's for them to know the reason. They were treated fairly in most peoples minds. Not sure what kind of pickle they're in, but it doesn't have anything to do with us. We haven't protested anything that they have done and hope the best for them. The Neer's played hard and were good citizens while here and we're sorry to see them go. We're more sorry that they have to go down there with the only thing to do is bowl.

Kardiac kids, to my knowledge we haven't protested anything. This is the OHSAA looking into it. Even though both his parents still work here in Orrville I'm sure the academics or the better bowling lanes in Holmes County were the reason they moved and not sports.

They both are singing in the choir, so clearly it was for our outstanding music program. Our band rocks the house baby!;)

Isn't that the reason ANYONE would move to Holmes County?? Academics and bowling lanes?? I know that's why our move in came last year!

Ric... Why would anyone leave the Mecca of Basketball to play for the state Perennial Powerhouse WH........ Not the Bowling.....Its the Cow Pie Bingo!!.....Your move ins came strictly for the Academics and Breakfeast at Mrs J's!!.(superior i might add)......Not the Bowling cause your bowling ally is sub par.......................

Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated!

We sucked last year to the tune of another district title after finishing the regular season under .500.

Now that it appears that he's eligible...is Orrville still the bad guy? Just checking...

Flash,
Thanks for clarifying the situation and putting truth and facts out there instead of hearsay. I agree..losing Neer is unfortuante, he'd have been a 2-year starter at Orrville...most wouldn't find much fault with that, but he thought otherwise, which is his and his family's right. There was a pecking order last year with a logjam of seniors. It wasn't a declaration of Neer's talent, or lack thereof. Landis and Smith had to wait their turn too.
