That is a cool story. The one picture of Knight looking so "down" was from back in HS when he broke his foot early in the season of his senior year. The bottom of the whole photo would show him wearing a cast.

Heard Sly went off at practice yesterday......I'm sure a few challenges were laid down.
Times have changed....can't just have 'Orrville' across your jersey and automatically win games. I think we saw that during football season. Have to out-work and out-execute your opponents.
I dont know what coach blowing up will change....but some things you can control (effort, etc.) and some things you can't. I'm sure he felt better afterwards though.

Time to define your season. Home against Wooster and at Clear Fork over break. Both winnable but who knows.
0-6 heading into the meat of the OCC & a trip to Norwayne on Jan 10th would not be pretty.

Correction: The picture of Bobby Knight looking so sad was from his Junior year. Here is an excerpt from a story I did about 5 years ago for OrrViews about events in our town from 1957:
"In sports, OHS junior Bobby Knight, star of the basketball team, broke his foot. Young Knight was averaging 25.5 points per game after ten contests. Doctors believed that he had played his last two games with the break before it had become too painful to put weight on it. No one was more disappointed than young Bobby Knight, as you can see from the picture in a January issue of the Courier-Crescent!"

Coach Davault has said it for years...a team is defined by its seniors. It's up to them to lead on and off the court. They determine the direction of a team.
I think we need to see a little less 'me' and a little more 'we.'
Hopefully Wooster can bring that out.

Yes they are!Riderwannabe;1024725 wrote:Orrville sports are are dying fast
Lack of interest...lack of athletes...lack of work ethic...lack of knowledge of what it means to put on that Red Rider uniform and play like a champion with 110% effort every night out = lack of wins (and a loss to a WCAL school in football)!!

^^ That was a really good WCL team, but yes kids are different today they do not want to work hard for anything just want it given to them, sad!

High school sports are very cyclical. You will have down times, but will always rebound. Some spells might go longer than others, but in the end it will return.

Words of wisdom from 300, but the yelling by the coach may have helped as the Riders win vs Wooster tonight. Exciting finish to the game with a Brenner slam and a Winters rejection of a dunk.

So whats the chances that when Orrville travels to Creston for a match-up against the Bobcats, we end up watching a football game played on the hardwood?
With what I read in the paper the other day after Norwayne beat Northwestern (the blood bath game), it sounds like Coach West of Norwayne likes his boys to play physical..I like that.
That is going to be an exciting atmosphere with some "hard" fouls I am sure!

Just like in football, it depends what Orrville team shows up to play?OQB;1029003 wrote:^ who wins that game though?
I would take Norwayne at this point, but if we play as we did against Woo...we will be OK!
