I've never read the actual email he apparently sent, but I believe he did testify today that he 'did enough' to ensure that it stopped. I don't think either side asked what that meant in detail but nothing more than that was really relevant to the particular set of charges being argued today, so I'm sure we'll get an answer to that when (if ever) there is an actual trial for Sandusky that McQueary can testify for the prosecution. IMO, I took it to mean that he didn't actually 'do' anything but that his presence there was enough to make it stop. Then he left. (A very stand up decision...)Fab1b;1017435 wrote:So he said a few weeks ago that he stopped it???? Doesn't sound that way to me. What a **** the ginger is!
I think I understand why the NCAA is investigating a LOIC in Happy Valley right now. After today, I'm not exactly sure if there was any controlling of anything related to that university. The incompetence defense for Curley and Schultz may let them off the hook but it makes their former employer look absolutely incompetent in turn.

McQueary also said he came and went 3 times as the alleged rape was going on and that the alleged victim was not crying out ,asking for help or trying to get away. McQueary even stated that he looked both of them in the eye. That is very odd to me if what he said took place.dtdtim;1017402 wrote:I don't think it is really necessary to these charges to be honest.
#1: Just because the perjury case is going to trial doesn't mean a conviction is imminent. The prosecution simply met their burden of proof to bring them to a trial, not to convict them. Evidence submitted and testimony today, imo, aren't strong enough to convict Schultz on perjury charges. It comes off as heinous incompetence more than knowingly lying under oath. If I were anybody connected to Penn State, I would be worried that anyone this moronic was in charge of the university finances for a number of years. It seems that the state may have strong enough testimony to convict Curley, however.
#2: Dranov's testimony doesn't really add anything to the defense of either Curley or Schultz. The biggest problem the defense attorneys are facing is from their own clients, imo: their recountings of how everything went down and who exactly knew and/or did what don't match.
I'd love to know what both sides of the Penn State clan think of this...the usual message board I go to for opinions from them is oddly quiet which I take as a fairly somber sign.

I don't see how McQueary can make the prosecution's case at this point. He admitted that he didn't use any graphic, specific words when describing the "over the line" incident. If his testimony is all the perjury case is based on then I would think a competent defense attorney should be able to cast legitimate doubt, especially 9 years after the fact. The defenses biggest obstacle will be the statements of their own clients, not the statements of McQueary.
Don't really think it's a huge deal to the Sandusky case with 9 other alleged victims coming forward, but it definitely could be for Curley and Schultz.

I hate to assume something so awful but I'm willing to bet that if there were no screams or struggle, chances are it wasn't the first time this boy had been a victim of Sandusky. And it doesn't matter if there was or wasn't a struggle. The kid was still obviously underage.Skyhook79;1017478 wrote:McQueary also said he came and went 3 times as the alleged rape was going on and that the alleged victim was not crying out ,asking for help or trying to get away. I get so sad whenever I heard news like this. There are now lots of crimes happened and I hope will not happen again which involves violence and one of those is robbery. When cash is short, you do not have to follow what these two people in Virginia did on Friday. They robbed a payday loan business while injuring a female worker during the process. If you are desperate for fast cash, a personal loan is a much safer option than theft. Go to Payday loan to get more information.
We must always be responsible in everything we do and also we must think many times before doing such act. Our economic condition is not an excuse for us to do something that involves violence. All we need is to look for jobs in order for us to have that money we need to survive life. And it does not include robbery.

Legendary former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno is gravely ill and his family is rushing to State College to be by his side, according to published reports
According to Onward State, Paterno was taken off of a respirator earlier today. However, family members have not confirmed the report. And Blue White Illustrated reports that the Paterno family is rushing to his side at the hospital in State College. The family will have a statement soon, The Patriot-News has confirmed.

In his first public comments since being fired two months ago, Paterno told The Washington Post he "didn't know which way to go" after an assistant coach came to him in 2002 saying he had seen retired defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky sexually abusing a boy. Facebook and Twitter are flooded with students and fans saying that they are praying for Joe and for the Paterno family.
Paterno, 85, was diagnosed with lung cancer on Nov. 18. The diagnosis came just days after Paterno was fired by Penn State's board of trustees in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal.
Paterno was later hospitalized when he fell at home and fractured his pelvis. Paterno initially hurt his pelvis after he was blindsided on the sideline during preseason practice in August.
Paterno last week made his first public comments since the Sandusky scandal in a widely publicized interview with Washington Post reporter Sally Jenkins.
In that interview, Jenkins described a frail Paterno whose "voice sounded like wind blowing across a field of winter stalks, rattling the husks."
Jenkins later described Paterno as "wracked by radiation and chemotherapy, in a wheelchair with a broken pelvis, and 'shocked and saddened' as he struggles to explain a breakdown of devastating proportions."

If this is in fact true (near death), I told my girlfriend that when he was first fired (before the cancer diagnosis) that I give him less than a year to live. Not to be morbid but for some of these guys, football is their life. If I recall Paul Bear Bryant died within a year of his retirement.hoops23;1061269 wrote:So the only thing that was keeping JoePa alive was coaching PSU?

Agreed. Some people (not just football) when they cease to work you know won't last long. Same goes for spouses passing. When JoePa was no longer married to PSU the end was near.BR1986FB;1061282 wrote:If this is in fact true (near death), I told my girlfriend that when he was first fired (before the cancer diagnosis) that I give him less than a year to live. Honestly, I don't think he lasts too long. Not only will he no longer have the ritual of a normal day with things to keep him busy and active... but there will be a lot of stress from this situation.
