I just refuse to ignore the possibility that Joe really didn't know as much as much as he is assumed to have until more is known. I'm done arguing this.
THERE IS NO "innocent until proven guilty" for Paterno, he broke no law. He doesn't have to face a jury. He doesn't have to put his hand on a bible and swear to God he's telling the truth when he gives his side of the story, if he ever does. Unless he's called as a witness. If that happens I'm positive his lawyer is going to ask for something in return.

What we know.

WE KNOW McQueary saw Sandusky in the shower with a young boy doing something of a "sexual nature". WE KNOW McQueary saw Sandusky doing something troubling in the shower because he reported what he saw to Paterno. WE KNOW McQueary told the Grand Jury that he saw Sandusky sodomozing a 10 year old boy in the shower. WE KNOW Paterno was concerned about what McQueary saw happen in the shower, because Paterno told the Grand Jury that McQuery was obviously upset.

Now comes the $64 thousand question. Did McQuery tell Paterno something less damning than what he told the Grand Jury? If so, how much less and why....remember Paterno said he could tell McQuery was shaken when he recounted the incident.

You tell us, why would McQueary tell Paterno something less than what he told the Grand Jury? What could McQueary have told Paterno that seemed so insignificant that all Paterno did was tell the AD what McQueary told him? Be honest with yourself, remember McQueary was obviously shaken. If all McQuery told Paterno was something like, "I saw Sandusky in a shower with a young boy". Wouldn't that minimal report be enough of a disturbing picture that, say six months later and nothing has happened to Sandusky, that Paterno should have at least inquired of someone in the organization....WHY?....WHAT?.... WHY NOT?

Why doesn't someone do something about Sandusky? Why isn't someone at least a little concerned about the young boy who was in the shower with Sandusky? Paterno IS Happy Valley. Paterno IS Penn State. Paterno IS Penn State Football. Paterno IS god at Penn State. Paterno ABSOLUTELY has the POWER to go above and beyond his MINIMUM responsibility of using the chain of command. WHY DID HE NEVER DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN TELL THE AD?????

Nov. 7, 2011
Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly says Paterno is not a target of the investigation into how the school handled the accusations. But she refuses to say the same for university President Graham Spanier. Curley and Schultz, who have stepped down from their positions, surrender on charges that they failed to alert police to complaints against Sandusky.

Funny how Joe Pa's SUPERIORS are in trouble not him. It's called chain of command. The graduate assistant followed it by alerting Paterno, and Paterno followed it by alerting his superiors. This must be done for every allegation, because the consequences of alerting the police to improper allegations has a higher societal impact than following the chain of command to the proper extent.
Since you are taking Paterno's side in this matter... YOU be JP....tell us what YOU would do. McQuery tells you, "Something of a 'sexual nature' took place last night in the showers between Sandusky and a 10 year old boy." You do your due diligence and report EXACTLY to thr AD what McQueary told you. Six months goes by and nothing happens to Sandusky, he's still hanging around the football facilities, you've seen him with other young boys. What do you do? I would hope something more than NOTHING... which is what Penn State "god" Joe Paterno did.

Paterno will resign before the Nebraska game, if he doesn't I'll send everyone an Ipad.
He better resign, otherwise people will take your iPad offer seriously.

Yet another JOKE coming out of Penn State.

The trustees are going to conduct an investigation on their own and get to the bottom of this mess. HA HA...Two of the trustees are former football players under Paterno and a third was a manager for Paterno.

Not only should Joe Pa and the adminstrations be thrown in jail and castrated, but Penn State should be shut down and any alumni who paid tuition over the last 10 years should be thrown in jail for funding this terrible tragedy. Pennsylvania deserves better because someone was raped!!!!

ND coach is directly responsible for kid's death because head coach is directly responsible for everything football team/facilities/operation related.

PSU coach is not responsible at all for multiple incidents of child molestation because head coach is not responsible for everything football team/facilities/operation related.

Never said NDs coach was responsible, but someone at ND was and nothing happened. Go cry to someone who cares.

Actually, you called their coach and AD murderers.

Better watch out before cry4fail cries and gives you an infraction.

This is a terribly sad day for the legendary Joe "Pa" Paterno. The all-time winningest coach in the history of the game, two-time national champion, and man who governed with unrivaled character and integrity for six decades as the leader of the Pennsylvania State University football program. He was Pennsylvania. JoePa, out after 61 years. The sport will never be the same. He is, without a doubt, among the handful of greatest coaches in the chronicles of American sports.

As for the allegations that some are painting against Paterno, they have certainly hurt his legacy. They are, regrettably, harrowing claims of sexual scandal and cover-up from which the 84-year-old icon will never recover. Whether the onslaught of indignation Paterno has received is completely justified or not, it no longer matters. He will go to his grave a faint shadow of his former self.

And, obviously, the saddest story within this ugly chapter in sports history lies in the unfortunate young men who were taken advantage of.

It's just a sad day. I truly feel for the kids and, regardless of how others may feel, I feel for Joe Paterno. He never should have gone out like this. An ebony cloud lingers over Happy Valley tonight.

Just read the court reports, and I have the same sick feeling in my stomach as the day a surviving Tutsi came to my senior seminar class to relive those few months of terror. The things we'll never forget are the moments when we see the worst in mankind.

Maybe I missed this, but has anyone given an opinion on what they feel the NCAA will do about this? I don't see how they don't take some type of action on what has happened. Possibly "failure to control?"

How could they ever investigate another program, if they don't hammer PSU on this?

If nothing else, there will be civil lawsuits leveled at him.

I don't really understand what that article has to do with Paterno. I did see an article that mentioned that, although he is apparently in the clear for now, perjury and/or obstruction of justice charges could be possible in the future if/as more information comes out (along with civil charges).

The Clery Law seems like it would be imposing civil penalties against the university though, nothing against individuals.

JoPa will lose everything if someone files a suit against him for neglegence.

Hell since PSU is a state university, the state of Pennsylvania could be named in a civil case.

Is this fake ccrunner or the morally sound ccrunner making these definitive statements?

ABC 6 news in Philadelphia is reporting that they will announce the resignation of President Spainer at the press conference and will also announce that Joe Paterno will never coach again at Penn State and that assistant coach Tom Bradley will take over as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

Pretty remarkable.
