Paul Posluszny was just on Mike and Mike. He was at Penn State from 2003-2006. He said Sandusky was an omnipresent figure at the Penn State facility during his time on campus. Said the players even did charity work with Sandusky's charity. Meanwhile, Paterno and McQueary, kept quiet and allowed it to happen. Enablers. Just ridiculous.

Joe's last power play,(retiring at the end of the season) just shows how arragant and controling he thinks he is! To tell the BoT that they should not waste any more time on him and attend to more important matters!
That play was flagged for unsportsman like conduct and ejection!!!

Matt Millen will probably regret admitting to being on the board and a donor to this charity...

Millen mentioned during his interview last night that this may just be the tip of the iceberg...prophetic?

I guess besides the victims, the saddest thing for me is the end of an era. Not JoePa but that coaching era. I grew up as a little boy watching the end of Woody and Bear and DKR and that coaching era. As long as JoePa coached, I was still connected to that era. Now we are left with nothing more than snakes as coaches (Saban, Miles, Spurrier, RR, and yes Urban Meyer to name a few). I don't know, it was arguably the right decision, but the loss goes deeper than one man.

Question:

Woody and Bear didn't last long after they stopped coaching....how long does JoePa make it now?

Speculation on what depth of knowledge he had will go on for months, who knows what will result. That said, you simply cannot, as a university, trot the old man out there with the possibility that he knew more than he says he did. They can't run the risk that he was either lying, negligent or both. They needed to start cleaning house asap regardless of legacies and bodies of work. Joe had to go as a result.
So, why fire the president and the coach? The AD and VP, who is documented to have received notification from Paterno/McQueary did not go to the police, yet were allowed to resign/retire. Hell the AD was placed on Administrative Leave, but he he resigned to fight his legal battles. These 2 are facing perjury charges and were subsequently treated "better" than Joe Pa. McQueary, who was an eye witness chose to call his dad and wait until the next day before saying something to Paterno, yet he still has a job this morning.

Let's not forget the BoT, who approved his retirement package back in 1999 after the 1st allegation. A package which allowed full access to campus facilities. I'm being honest, they have a role in all of this as well. That report from 1998 was known and poorly handled by authorities yet he gets the benefits package of a lifetime. You want to clean house? CLEAN HOUSE

JoePa mentioned "...this is ONE of the great sorrows of my life." Christ old man what were the other ones? Did you kill somebody too?!?! Oh wait that's Notre Dame...

Joe Pa death pool for v-cash?

Honestly, I don't think he lasts too long. Not only will he no longer have the ritual of a normal day with things to keep him busy and active... but there will be a lot of stress from this situation.

He has a point to an extent. Instead of deciding whether or not he's the coach, why not trying to name Victim #2? Why not put 100% effort into the investigation to get everyone who is/was involved questioned/prosecuted.... In the grander scheme of things, HIS job seems a bit secondary.

This. I said on another thread that I can honestly see him being gone by the time 2011 is gone. Seeing THAT breaking news on ESPN in the next few weeks won't be shocking.

FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky's Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with "curious" relationships. Only the start.

This whole thing goes much deeper than the acts at Penn State. Schools that he was involved with (see victim 1 of GJ report) should be looked into as well.

to your point...
http://www.toledoblade.com/DaveHackenberg/2011/11/09/Paterno-failed-to-fulfill-moral-obligations.html
Jerry Sandusky, the one-time Penn State assistant at the center of this horrid affair or series of affairs, turned up a few years later as a volunteer assistant football coach at Central Mountain High School near Lock Haven, Pa. He also was still heading up his nonprofit organization, The Second Mile, to help at-risk children and dealt with some local kids in that role.
Coincidentally, my youngest daughter, Beth, has been the girls' head volleyball coach at the same high school since 2005. I distinctly remember the day she called and said, "Dad, do you know Jerry Sandusky? You're not going to believe this ..."
In 2008, a Central Mountain student and his mother alleged Sandusky had some 20 sexual encounters with the boy over a multiyear period. School administrators informed children's services and local police and it went from there to the state police and Pennsylvania attorney general's office and, a couple days ago, we learned the scope of this long-term investigation and the resulting charges.
As sad as it is, the saddest thing of all is that six years earlier Penn State University had the opportunity -- and failed -- to do what Central Mountain High School did.

What follows is completely speculative...

I think somehow some of the Board of Trustees might be involved if there is some child sex trafficking involved. If some of the hints that it wasn't just one man but a few adults who had sexual contact with kids are true, I think Sandusky got his relatively good treatment after his dismissal as part of favor because of the actions of a few members of Trustee. I also think their abrupt firing of Paterno was to keep the focus on anywhere but them.

Okay, now I'm done with my crazy conspiracy theory.

For those who haven't followed this as closely, here is a link to the article depicting the mystery surrounding the DA who was investigating Sandusky in 05: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/09/sports/ncaafootball/questions-on-sandusky-wrapped-in-2005-gricar-mystery.html?_r=2

Conspiracy theorists can connect the dots. Huge payout from wealthy Second Mile donors for him to go away??
