I grew up as a little boy watching the end of Woody and Bear and DKR and that coaching era. As long as JoePa coached, I was still connected to that era. Now we are left with nothing more than snakes as coaches (Saban, Miles, Spurrier, RR, and yes Urban Meyer to name a few). I don't know, it was arguably the right decision, but the loss goes deeper than one man.

Question:

Woody and Bear didn't last long after they stopped coaching....how long does JoePa make it now?
Im just going to LOL at the first part of your post.

As for your question I say he dies on February 14, 2012.

Eh, Woody lasted almost 10 years after coaching. But these guys don't last long after they get out of coaching because they coached well into their 70's-80's. JoePa could have dropped dead while he was still coaching, it has nothing to do with him quitting coaching and more to do with him being 84 freaking years old. LOL

Jerry Sandusky. He knows everything.

Has to be Joe Pa for me. I want to know what he knew and what he thought happened after he passed that info along. (why didn't he follow up on it)

Joe Pa did exactly what he was instructed to do, by the University.

There is a chain of command. He followed it and then was told by a higher up that it was handled. Joe Pa probably went right back to business as usual trusting those in higher positions.

Sad witch hunt on Joe Pa.

I figure since Jerry Sandusky was let go in 2008 from that HS, more people at Penn St knew FAR FAR more than Joe Pa. They need to be found out.

WOW O WOW O WOW!

Did wealthy Penn State donors have Gricar wacked in '98? Paterno was always rumored to have "connections" back in NYC.

Witch hunt? JoePa knew exactly what was going on, he was happy with his decision to let his superiors know and then forget all about it. I'm sorry, but when it comes to protecting children, you don't just pass the buck and then forget about it.

I'd agree with you, Hobbit. I don't want to hear any more details of Sandusky's perverted exploits.

Exactly. People cannot tell me the BOT did not know there was an investigation going on into child sexual abuse charges against Sandusky and yet they didn't revoke or at the very least suspend his emeritus status.
But hey I guess it makes people feel better about themselves if they say they would have done more in the same situation then a icon in College Football even though people are saying that in hindsight not in the same circumstances as JoePa.

You keep bringing up the same points that no one is refuting. If anyone of the higher ups knew more about this, they should get burned as well. That doesn't take any blame away from what JoePa did or didn't do with what he knew. He knew what was going on and tried to pass responsibility off to someone else and then forget about it.

Sorry, when it comes to children's welfare and you are Joe FUCKING Paterno, you follow up and make sure the kids are safe.

And as closely as Sandusky and Paterno worked all these years, I find it hard to believe Paterno had no clue what was going on.

Wouldn't Sandusky's wife be even closer yet she had no clue obviously.

I'd say no, she wasn't closer (although she should know if they were in fact still married at the time this all went down). College football coaches spend more time working together than they do with their families (a complaint we have heard in the past from coaches, Meyer comes to mind). Not too mention this shit was going on on campus around the coaches.

You can quit making apologies for Paterno. No one is saying he raped little boys, but it is pretty evident that he didn't do much to prevent it.

Typically, I'd disagree with you on this. However, having these "random" kids stay the night at their house, taking trips with him, abruptly ceasing contact... would flare up some red flags.

This hiding behind the chain of command stuff is such bullshit. I don't know which is worse, if those throwing it out there actually don't get that it's shit, or that they do know and spew it anyway.

There are two (at least) chains of command in an organization of any size, the official one and the effective one. While the official chain may show Paterno reporting to the AD, anyone who thinks that JoePa actually answered to the guy is delusional or knows better and is dishonest.

The chain of command argument probably helps keep Paterno out of criminal court, as he probably should be. If there is a hell, I would suspect this argument won't keep him out of it. Nor should it.

Was he married at the time this was going on?

Apparently, if lots of people share blame, no one is to blame.

The 2 instances that happened on Campus and witnessed by Red hair Guy and the Janitor were both at around 9:30 at night and no other Coaches are around at that time as stated in the GJ testimony. Did you even read it? While several incidents happened in the basement of his home that he lived in with his wife.

I'm not sure, but there were accounts in the GJ as far back as '94.

Red hair guy is a coach. Not too mention JoePa was aware of past incidents and allegations.

I stated that his wife should know as well. What does that have to do with JoePa helping sweep this under the rug? You continue to blame others (which we all do as well) to try and shift blame away from JoePa. If anything, JoePa would have less loyalty to a guy than the guy's wife. So while she should have reported him as well, I can see her trying to stay loyal to her husband over JoePa. I expect more out of Paterno than Mrs. Sandusky.

Any word on McQueary yet? I'm more pissed that there hasn't been a decision on him than there was one on Paterno. I KNOW Joe Pa is bigger than McQueary, but how do you justify letting McQueary walk on the field Saturday? (rhetorical)

He should be handed his walking papers and burned with the rest of those that did nothing and were involved.
