The end. That's all that should be done. Not meeting the moral standards required of a position only justifies removing a person from that position.
You can be personally disgusted at a person because they did the bare minimum required, but you can't punish them for it. He didn't need to do anything more than he did, although he almost certainly should have. I don't think he did anything wrong, he just didn't do enough right.
I'm aware of what the legal options are, but that doesn't mean that as a human being you can't believe someone deserves more punishment than what is legally possible. It goes both ways, you can believe someon growing marijuana doesn't deserve 5 years in prison, just as you can believe someone who covers for a child molester, resulting in more children being raped, deserves further punishment than being allowed to resign from his job and live out his years comfortably with his millions.
Allowing more kids to be raped because you just didn't care, loses all sympathy I have for you as a human being, because you didn't seem to have the slightest real concern for the most innocent of your fellow human beings. Hence why I couldn't care less what happens to Paterno. If you told me one of the now grown up kids shot and killed him, I can't say I wouldn't' feel it was justified. It's puzzling to me how people think the complete lack of real punishment for this guy is in any way just.
