Cool. Everything I stated was factual.

Feel free to carry on calling for human beings to be raped in prison or drawn and quartered for failing to live up to your moral standards. I'll continue to be rational and not sound completely insane.

I would hope not assisting a man in raping children would be part of anyone's moral standards.

And I would hope that not calling for another human, regardless of age, to be raped in prison would be a part of anyone's moral standards. Clearly it isn't. We've been over this already.

Heard there's a student movement to get a statue of Paterno that's on campus, taken down.

Jerry Sandusky was banned from bringing kids on campus in '02 yet was allowed to give a commencement speech at PSU in 2007.

What do you believe is the exact right punishment for Paterno?

Big deal. Mark May wants the Ohio State football program shut down and the player and staff to be shot at sunrise. \

Nothing as of now. He didn't do anything legally wrong that we know of. The court of public opinion is not the court of law. You don't punish people for improper morals, you punish them for breaking the law.

Not that I've read/heard but what would they say to make anything better/worse?

Penn State is on an island right now and there isn't anything anyone can say or do to change that...they effed up huge here and it needs to play out without interference from any source.

In Joe Paterno's position and many, many similar positions, this just simply isn't the case.

Seriously, let's just stop with the desperate excuse-making. Paterno, along with many others, were either negligent or helped cover up a man anally raping young boys. Enough said.

Washington Post is completely right. Let all current players transfer if they want with no repercussion. Fire every member of the coaching staff, shut it down for a couple years while you hire a a new staff(of people you're confident won't cover up child rape this time) and start again in 2013 with new recruits and whichever players decided to stay.

I never said he wasn't part of covering it up. I said don't jump to conclusions before everything comes out. I respected joe pa, but if he did cover it up I have lost all respect for him. I live near state college and everyone I talk to have the same concept I have, where there not jumping to conclusions on joe pa.

It's a complete joke to shut down the football program. What did the players at penn st do to deserve losing a team. What did the fans do? It was the actions of 5 men who messed up let them be punished not the entire university

I meant punish from a legal definition (i.e. resulting from a crime, like going to jail).

Of course there are civil punishments (losing his job, etc.), but there is no legal basis on which to punish him.

Force him to resign. If he didn't meet the standards of conduct required for a man in his position, then forcing him out is the correct course of action to take.

The end. That's all that should be done. Not meeting the moral standards required of a position only justifies removing a person from that position.

You can be personally disgusted at a person because they did the bare minimum required, but you can't punish them for it. He didn't need to do anything more than he did, although he almost certainly should have. I don't think he did anything wrong, he just didn't do enough right.

Agreed. I think he should lose his job, that's about it. Don't necessarily like that it is that simple, but it is.

I'm aware of what the legal options are, but that doesn't mean that as a human being you can't believe someone deserves more punishment than what is legally possible. It goes both ways, you can believe someon growing marijuana doesn't deserve 5 years in prison, just as you can believe someone who covers for a child molester, resulting in more children being raped, deserves further punishment than being allowed to resign from his job and live out his years comfortably with his millions.

Allowing more kids to be raped because you just didn't care, loses all sympathy I have for you as a human being, because you didn't seem to have the slightest real concern for the most innocent of your fellow human beings. Hence why I couldn't care less what happens to Paterno. If you told me one of the now grown up kids shot and killed him, I can't say I wouldn't' feel it was justified. It's puzzling to me how people think the complete lack of real punishment for this guy is in any way just.
