One error I noticed: they said Mark has only been able to reach Columbus twice with his Loudonville teams only. I could swear that I watched his 07 Hiland team in Columbus, but maybe the hard living of the past has made it impossible for me to distinguish between reality and fantasy.
Yeah, they lost to eventual champion Georgetown.

There you go, sticking a dagger in our hearts, Wes. That was a tough one to swallow. Lost by a point without Gause ever touching the ball in the last several minutes. Some people still aren't over it, but after 2+ years of therapy, I'm ready to move on.

I am not a Hiland guy, but they are my adopted team since my school(Lakeland) is now defunct. Not to rehash the past, but I have no idea why Gause didn't have the last shot......instead a kid that didn't take 1 shot the entire game was firing up 3s....ugh

No I am talking about the one were the current team played the alumni. I believe this game took place the last time the Pirates went to state. So maybe it helped??

Got to see Hiland play the Alumni team last night. I was impressed. It's going to be an interesting year. The boys lost to the men after being up by 1 with 10 seconds. The reason they lost can be summed up in two words: Jason Mishler. Everyone knew Jason would not allow his team to be beaten. Calmly came down and busted a 3 at the buzzer. The man is sick.

lol...I graduated in 95. We were the worst baseball team ever and played on the worst field ever. Our pregame consisted of throwing rocks off of the infield and eating hot dogs.

I have a terrific story about shaggin foul balls there...haha.

I was pitching my senior year and started bitching and complaining to the ump about his strike zone. My coach(who can verify this story) comes out and tells me that if I can't just play the game, I can go shag foul balls like a freshman.

So me and this frosh are gathering a few foul balls when I tell the freshmen to check this out. I take one of the balls, throw it on the ground, and urinate on it. I picked it up with my glove, took it back and tossed it to the ump.....who bare hands it and rubs down the scuffs...haha

2 days later, the frosh rats me out to the coach and spend the better part of a week running sprints on the track that ran through the middle of our god awful field.

My coach is now the volleyball coach at West Holmes...lol

Classic.....................that damn track almost came down to second base and then out through right field.......we played a game there once and they had a damn track meet going on at the same time.........kept having to stop the game/meet constantly.........and that wasn't the worst field I ever played on!!!!!

Hiland will Run table this year in the IVC...
To bad we'll have to wait next year's football season for the Generals to have another winning season.

I think Hiland is a monster favorite to win league, but I would not agree they will run the table. I think Strasburg, Garaway or Malvern has ability to beat them on any given night. I would not be surprised if they win league with 14-2 record.

agree...would be real surprised to see them go undefeated in the league. (it most certainly won't be an undefeated season as they have an away game at Cleve. Benedictine at the end of december).
(They scrimmaged a few big school teams last saturday, and "had some issues".)

(anyone know when the Ridgewwod game has been rescheduled to? malvern was rescheduled for jan 15 i think)

Malvern played Hiland last year on less than ten days practice and that went well....oh wait a minute... no that didn't go so well! Shouldnt Strasburg and Garaway be moving games also because their golf teams went to state :)

Jlg, I'm working from a faulty memory but I think that first game last year at Hiland was a 7 point game. It was the second game at the Hornet's Nest where Dylan went off in the first quarter and it got out of hand - and then a certain finger of a hand got a player in a little trouble. :)

The JV team lost by 50 and it could have been much worse if your coach had not be generous. A seven point loss was still a loss, so I blame football. You are correct that the night Dylon went off was the second game at Malvern, which included said finger incident! Then game three will forever be remembered as the football throwing injury game. That brown pointed ball cost us a lot of wins last year :)

Maybe if Hiland had a football eam...they would understand....
To bad Coach Slusser couldnt be the Basketball coach too...Maybe the Generals would have a winning program in basketball, they do in his other two sports, FOOTBALL, and baseball

Oh, I think we understand. Football is a great sport, but injuries are part of it. It's too bad when injury prevents competing, no matter what the origin.

Totally agree with the Ridgewood/Slusser thing. There's talent down there. Just need the right coach that can tap it.

JLG, I remember a certain JV coach appreciating Coach Mullet holding down the score - and he did, but it didn't look like it on the score board. I'm sure said coach will have them humming this year! I also remember the JV game was very close the second time around.

Ricola, Ridgewood at Hiland has been rescheduled for Sat 1/9 - according to an email I got today. We play Garaway the night before.
