I don't care. I don't think ND is winning one next year anyway.

As long as it's post 2012, you're on (and for the record, IMO, ND has a very good chance of winning a BCS bowl next season).

OSU has already won multiple BCS games, ND has never won one. So, you lose, but thanks for playing.karen lotz;1055909 wrote:Bet all you fools ND wins a BCS game before OSU.

nice!Just two days after news broke that Vandalia Butler OT Taylor Decker became the 20th member of the class of 2012 to commit to Ohio State, it appears the Buckeyes have roped in another offensive lineman.
Marc Givler and Kevin Noon of Buckeye Grove (Rivals) are reporting that Windsor (CO) OL Joey O'Connor has committed to Urban Meyer and Ohio State's coaching staff. O'Connor took an official visit to Columbus this past weekend despite not having an offer, but received one over the trip. It was assumed once that happened that a verbal pledge to the Buckeyes was imminent within the week, and word finally broke Tuesday afternoon that the commitment happened.
O'Connor stands at 6-4/295 and is slated to line up at either guard or center at Ohio State. He was once committed to Penn State, decommitting after the Sandusky scandal broke, and chose OSU over his other finalists of Iowa and California. He becomes the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Buckeyes in the class of 2012, joining Ohioans Decker, Jacoby Boren, and Patrick Elflein. It is expected that Urban Meyer will land at least one, if not two more players at the position in the class, with the main targets being Kyle Dodson and Jordan Diamond.
This is a big pick up for the Buckeyes as they desperately needed depth on the offensive line. The class stands at 21 as of today and is expected to reach at least 25 when Signing Day rolls around in just a few weeks. Stay tuned for the latest news on recruiting and join us tomorrow for some more buzz in the 11W Recruiting Notebook.

"Grew up an OSU fan and is two hours from Columbus and isn't offered until mid January? I have no problem with him choosing OSU."
Love the way the Potato Eaters try to sound like they didn't really want Decker anyway. Yeah sure who wants a game changer type talent on your team?

Thanks again, sleeper, but the past is the past remember?
I will bet that Notre Dame will win a BCS game before OSU does moving forward.

take it over to the ND thread and please explain how you think a team that sucks, has bad players now, has bad players coming in, and has a coach that can't win and the players hate because he yells at them will win a BCS game next year.

I didn't say I didn't want him. I said I have no problem that a 18 year old kid chose to go to OSU. I don't think he is a game changer, as most offensive tackles aren't. He likely won't see the field until MAYBE 2014.

Awww, come on now Lotzy, I don't recall saying any such thing (except maybe the coach berating the players, but that was just my opinion--I never said he couldn't win because of it)karen lotz;1056014 wrote:take it over to the ND thread and please explain how you think a team that sucks, has bad players now, has bad players coming in, and has a coach that can't win and the players hate because he yells at them will win a BCS game next year.

Most layman football fans like yourself struggle to understand the complexities of the game. The OL as a unit has tremendous potential to be game changers. Should have clarified for you run of the mill CFB fans.karen lotz;1056021 wrote:I didn't say I didn't want him. I said I have no problem that a 18 year old kid chose to go to OSU. Right. You have proven your (lack of) ability to understand complex things.

I am pretty sure lotz is completely jealous of OSU's recruits. Not to mention he is a huge hypocrit coming on here whining like a little girl.
I'll take that bet, Notre Dame will be a mediocre football school for at least the next 3 years

Even a lay football fan realizes that recruiting losses only hurt when the team lacks depth. I liked Decker a lot, not more than Stanley though (and that is documented from months ago on the ND threads), but the depth ND has on the OL/DL mitigates the loss of Decker. ND is fine on the OL for years to come. The loss of Darby hurts 100x more.
Ohio State is a great fit for Decker and an excellent choice. He grew up an OSU fan, his recruiters moved to OSU, and the depth at OT is nonexistent. It will work very well for him.
...then when you realize that the 2013 OT studs are high on ND (one already committed) and that commitments from Armstead will put even better guys than Decker on the OL. It's just not a big loss. If he were the worst loss of the season, I'd love ND's recruiting.

But serious, 2012 would be a tough year for the Irish, 2013 will be Kelly's banner year at Notre Dame.
