He said it, not me. I'm sure he asked at least Hinton if he were going to OSU considering the rumors started as soon as Meyer was hired. He even said something back then that he was solid to Notre Dame unless there was a coaching change. You don't think he would have talked to anyone over the last month?

I'm sure they did. Did he say I was lied to or I feel lied to? Like you said it would not make sense for him to go to OSU if he was lied to and is that upset about it.karen lotz;1038646 wrote:He said it, not me. I don't know. He supposedly has an uncle that had been pushing hard for OSU. He will get a visit from ND's recruiting coordinator today and I'm sure there will be an update after that.

There is an update on Decker but its premium. Once someone gives a recap on the ND site I'll pass along.

Feels better about the situation now after talking to Martin, will wait to see who they hire as an oline coach and needs to talk it over with parents. Did get some questions answered.

The weird thing about Decker is he was very interested in OSU early but the previous staff totally ignored him. They failed to return multiple calls and hardly paid him any attention. He ends up at ND and then his primary coach there leaves for OSU and it all comes full circle. Recruiting is crazy.

I think he stays with the Irish, and I think he should. There's something to say about staying commited to the team you gave your verbal to. JMO.

I agree for the most part. Me and an OSU buddy were talking about this today. I think it's strange that a kid commits based SOLELY on the position coach. Obviously it's a big part of it. But if a kid transfers because the position coach leaves, then did he actually have any interest in the school/team/coach?vball10set;1039149 wrote:I think he stays with the Irish, and I think he should. I believe Spence is taking part in part of the High School skills challenge on the ESPN 2 right now. Not sure exactly what time he will be on though.

Santos just went. Looks like a pretty good athlete. He was just beaten by the only RB in the event.

Dominated the course. If it wasn't for that tire taking a weird bounce he probably would have won it.

The interaction and relationship a player has with his position coach is the most important one by far. The head coach at major programs are obviously super busy and some players may only talk to them a few times a year. Your position coach is your daddy, and you interact with them a 1000x more than the HC. They are the ones you are trusting to get you to the league, not the HC. It makes perfect sense to me.WebFire;1039164 wrote:I agree for the most part. Me and an OSU buddy were talking about this today. I understand that. But in this case, as an example, if he had left for OSU, that means he had 0 interest in Notre Dame, Brian Kelly and any of the other players on the team.Zoltan;1039697 wrote:The interaction and relationship a player has with his position coach is the most important one by far. Hinton was recruiting him, and wasn't his position coach.Zoltan;1039697 wrote:The interaction and relationship a player has with his position coach is the most important one by far. Verbals are meant to be broken...hope Meyer steals the Decker kid and lights up the ND chat rooms again.

I just wonder that if Decker decides to not follow Hinton and Warinner, will ccrunner still think he's overrated?Tiernan;1039733 wrote:Verbals are meant to be broken...hope Meyer steals the Decker kid and lights up the ND chat rooms again.

Not sure I would go that far. But there is a reason for a timeline when it comes to signing players. Again, we are talking about 18yr olds who are wined and dine and told how great they are by everyone. Then we expect them to make a decision without waffling or changing their minds. Guess what? Thats not going to happen. Even when a kid signs, we see them transfer. It is what it is. Its not going to change. Personal circumstances could change, coaching changes happen, many things can change from the time they give a verbal to the time they can sign.Tiernan;1039733 wrote:Verbals are meant to be broken...hope Meyer steals the Decker kid and lights up the ND chat rooms again.
The ONLY time I don't care for it, is when some of these kids/families play a game for attention from the media. That I don't care for.

Don't know about that, but one thing's certain--Sleeper will let us know he's not a 'winner'Tobias Fünke;1039755 wrote:I just wonder that if Decker decides to not follow Hinton and Warinner, will ccrunner still think he's overrated?

Apparently Decker told IrishEyes.com this morning he was staying with ND regardless of who the OLine coach is.

According to this article he is still pondering, I will wait and see. OSU insiders have been mum since first day we took the OL coach.
