Agree with both of these. I understand why recruiting is such a big deal to people but these are just kids trying to decide what they want to do.

I do favor an early signing period, just not this early. I'd like to see a kid being able to sign in November of his senior year, especially if he doesn't want the Dec-Jan deluge by rival teams' coaches. JMO.

The kid knew on his visit that he was visiting michigan and michigan state this week. Why committ to osu when you know youre going to other schools days later. Going to have to agree with this. For me, I grew up only wanting to go to Ohio State mostly because I favored their national brand and their emphasis on becoming the greatest university the world has ever known or will ever know. For many of these kids, that isn't their only factor. Most of them want playing time and a quality education(speaking for kids uninterested in the SEC). For the SEC, most of these kids want a college paycheck and enough playing time to get them to the next level.

Anyone know any good free boards to go to for recruiting news/updates. Currently just go to Buckeye Scouting Board but the people there are complete idiots.

24/7 can give you some good free content as well, though some of it is hidden for payers.

Honestly, Twitter. You can follow all the 11w guys, and it won't take long to figure out who the recruiting guys are for other schools because of retweets.

Eleven Warriors is really THE premiere site for Ohio State recruiting news/updates. Unfortunately, as the site has become more "known," the quality has dropped a bit. There's a lot of your petty/immature "you're an idiot, no you're an idiot" stuff in the user comment sections. Before, it actually used to be more informational. I'd say as long as you read the staff postings and shy away from user commentary (unless it's tennbuckeye19, GeneStarwind, buck-I.8, or Buckeye_in_SEC_Country -- these users are all really good, especially Gene and SEC_country) then it's pretty much just garbage commentary.

Anything that isn't basically an interview or analysis on 11w is just pulled from reddit or Twitter. There are some good forum topics sometimes.

It's been over a week now since OSU got a commit. It might be time to start looking for a new coach.

I just got this from my cousin who works at OSU--can anyone confirm this?

Per twitter, Bama has now offered 2014 QB DeShone Kizer from Toledo Central Catholic

I'm surprised OSU or tsun hasn't offered him. He's not only a helluva athlete, but an excellent student and a real good kid. Maybe the lack of interest is mutual?

Michigan already has their 2014 QB.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm assuming this is the same kid who QB'd them this season to State Championship?

Watched that kid play vs. my alma mater in the 2nd round. That kid (use that term loosely, man amongst boys) was tough. That whole team come to think of it was loaded.

I don't think osu is that interested. Whether they should be is certainly debatable.

I really do feel like Urban is more selective in offers as in he doesn't want to extend one unless there is a pretty good chance that we end up getting the kid. So if the coach recruiting him feels like we have no shot then there is no point in offering.

Toledo (OH) Central Catholic QB DeShone Kizer is arguably the top player in the state at his position in the 2014 class. What can't be argued is that he has the best offer list of all the prospects that play under center in Ohio.
In the last few weeks, Kizer has received scholarship offers from SEC powerhouses LSU and Alabama. Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Louisville, Kentucky, Arkansas, North Carolina, Penn State, Rutgers, and Tennessee had already thrown their hat into the mix as well.
The Toledo native took part in the Friday Night Lights camp at Ohio State towards the end of July of last year and may have to return to camp at OSU to show the progress he has made in order to receive an offer from the Buckeyes. There is no questioning he is a great athlete, but he'll have to show he's made strides in both accuracy and power in the passing game.

...if Hurd stays true to his commitment. However, I never begrudge a kid for staying in-state, especially when the in-state school is going through hard times ;)
