Just watched James Clark's film for the first time and it reminded me of Ted Ginn Jr.'s film. It's a great time to be a buckeye!

Sweet class! Had to be difficult for EE to turn down a faster 40 time to be a slow plodding Big Ten back.

Now on to next year...

Ohio State also relied heavily on offensive coordinator’s Texas connections to pluck three prospects from the Lone Star State — the same number OSU had in 10 years under coach Jim Tressel — including five-star linebacker Mike Mitchell. Rivals rates the 6-4, 225-pound Plano native, who ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at a Nike camp last summer, as the top recruit in Texas.
Tom Herman, who spent 10 years in Texas as a college assistant, smiled when asked about the challenge of recruiting against the blue bloods down south.
"Well," he said, "it's not challenging when you go 12-0, Urban Meyer's your head coach, and you’re wearing the Block O on your shirt."

Sounds like Townsend may sign with Florida now. Even if he is just a punter, I hope they didn't have to tell him they didn't have room for him after he was committed for so long.

That would suck to lose Townsend, not just because he was a top-notch punter, but because I'm afraid this would begin the developing of a bad reputation. But I understand Urban's thought process - get these blue chip athletes, already having a 2-time All-Ohio punter on your roster, and a kicker that can also punt.

I hope if he signs with Florida that it's because he wanted to stay close to home and not because we pulled his offer.

Agree totally, ^^^^ don't agree with pulling any committed offer, even to get a better recruit... Not cool at all.

The recruit's father said the offer was never pulled and completely, 100% in tact. It was just that the family was contemplating "family matters" or whatever.
Townsend's father, Clay Townsend, however, said speculation about any scholarship offer being pulled was "completely false."
Clay Townsend said: "Coach Meyer has not pulled anything, and everything regarding the scholarship offer remains intact. We just have a family matter that has required extra consideration and he has not signed, but the status of his scholarship is the same."

Yeah scholarship was never pulled but there was speculation he may have been asked to wait on signing. He would have made 83 so it was thought he was asked to wait until one of the guys transferred out. They can be over 82 right now as long as it is at 82 or under when next year starts but it wouldn't look the greatest to be over at all. No way of knowing if this is true though, just a theory I read on 11W.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm just wondering where all this "pulling his offer" talk is coming from? This isn't Lane Kiffin we're talking about here.

Glad to hear we didn't pull his offer. I like winning and I like talented individuals on the field and off, but I don't want to become the dirty SEC just to get a few more key recruits.

Taivon Jacobs 2.0? No one is saying that's what it is, just a family matter that could come up last second which would warrant him staying closer to home.

There were also reports that something happened during the past two weeks during the recruiting process. Not sure what that even means. But just goes to show how much things spiral out.

With twitter and other social media outlets, most reports or sources, don't validate them like they used to when it hit the newspapers or websites that had credit. Everyone has their "source" and some think they have their "Source".

When no information exists, speculation and making stuff up fills the void.

Townsend scoop:

the plan was for him to "gray shirt" until a scholarship was available.

This was the plan from DAY ONE with Townsend---he was aware of that, his family was aware of that, and all was good...

Yesterday OSU got the word that Townsend was reconsidering his position on that, and was listening to other school's pitches about taking a scholarship right away....

OSU felt that a scholarship could be available for Townsend shortly, so this would be--as always presented---a short term situation.* But today Townsend decided that he couldn't wait.

So Townsend will now sign with Florida.** Wish him well.** Next man up.

Bummer for sure---but that's what happens sometimes with tight numbers.** And*the important fact to remember was, this was ALWAYS how it was presented to Townsend.** ALWAYS

That is indeed the import part of this.

Best of luck at Florida. Frankly, he'll be needed there more than at tOSU. :D

Can't fault the kid or family for taking the assured free education.

Also, I hope they find someone other than Basil to punt. I don't like the idea of our PK taking a hit while punting the ball.

Since we won't need to punt or kick field goals, we could just start going for two on extra points.

I can fault him for not living up to something he apparently agreed to months ago.

I don't fault any kid for flipping, they're young and making big decisions. In the end, they all need to go where they're most comfortable with the situation. Also, we don't know what the "family situation" was.

I just can stop reading volnation. Tennessee is hands down the most delusional fan base in the nation.
