Any word on when Seddon jerseys become available through Indians team shops?

Doesn't anybody who hits from the right side want to play for us?

Hey...more big news coming out. Indians are extending an invite to RHP Chris Ray for Spring Training.

Putting together the greatest assortment of washed up rag arms to ever don the same uniform.

[h=1]Indians ask owners for payroll space to pursue Carlos Pena[/h]
Carlos Pena is one of the better free agents still available and Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians are interested in the 33-year-old first baseman.

Another left handed bat?

I like that it at least has some pop, but this line-up desperately needs someone who can hit with power from the right side.

I'm not sure it matters much. Pop is pop and we need some pop (Pena 28 HRs last two years). Pena hits RHP much better than LHP (.252/.370/.513 vs .210/.309/.426) Now roughly one quarter of a teams ABs in a season are against lefties. That translates to about 122 games. So you have 122 games of Pena's power and in the other 40 you move Santana to 1B (or Duncan/LaPorta/Whoever) and have Marson catch (.793 OPS vs LHP in 2011).

He would be a great pick up. He has major power. I also see choo having a bounce back year to help out

Yeah, I think Choo bounces back. Last season was a fluke year for him IMO and the injuries didn't help. His track record is pretty good, so he gets the benefit of the doubt..

I don't know whether or not to expect the same production from Druby though. If he actually turns into a 20+ homer SS while hitting .270+ and driving in around 80+ RBI, that will only bolster our line-up.

I am a little intrigued by Carlos Pena, regardless of which hand he pisses with.

Can't wait for the Tribe to make a halfass offer to Pena and then he signs somewhere else. "We tried...."

Have you seen "Moneyball"?

I laughed when Mark Shapiro continually asked Billy Beane in the movie if he could "afford" Ricardo Rincon from the Indians.. Shapiro took a couple of shots at Oaklands small payroll... I know back then the Tribe was spending quite a bit more, but looking back at it, it made me weep.

I'm pretty sure Moneyball took some liberties with Shapiro.

I really prefer Pena over their alleged fallback, Kotchman.

I don't know guys.....It doesn't look like they will land the RH bat we all want, unless they pull off a trade.

But, I would definitely take Pena.

IF, and that's a big IF, they add Carlos Pena I would be pretty happy. I know this team needs a RH bat, but there are guys you can bring in that can platoon and hit LH pitching. It would be ideal to bring in a big RH stick, but I'd be OK with a guy like Pena that has hit in the middle of orders for good teams and has a track record of 25+ HR and 80+ RBI. I know his average has been pretty garbage, but if we can bench him against most lefties I think we would like the production coming from 1B. If that bring in Duncan, I wouldn't be surprised to see a smaller signing soon after of a platoon OF to play against lefties.

I'm OK with Pena, but we really need a right handed bat. It was much too easy for the Kitties to truck out their LH match up bull pen guys and shut us down. No way we will win our division without some power from the Right side. We'd better pray that the light bulb goes on in La Porta's head so that there will be fire in his bat.

This is the guy I brought up a couple months back. He would be an immediate impact player. Buuuuuut this is the Tribe we're talking about.

it was the perfect storm....the Browns being moved by the backstabber, a shiny new stadium, and an owner with deep pockets.
