I only spoke of the stuff missing from EL, as shape was referring to. None of which is rumor ridden and all true. I am the one who help raise the cash to purchase the stuff missing from EL. I can also go into great detail how cash was raised and never turned in as well, if shape would like. I'm curious to see how someone like shape has any clue of stuff being said about Asher in EL is true or not, being that he's never been to one booster meeting, fund raiser or even has a list of items that walked off with Asher.

Here's a heads up to all that purchases a car from him. Your phone number, address, year, make of car AND Social is all recorded in a notebook that has been left on his desk many times without anyone being around...

This wasn't a thread to talk bad about coach Asher. It was a thread to see what everyone thought the problem is right now with STRUTHERS football. No offense, but I know EL fans are bitter, but this is not the place for it. Hope the rumors aren't true. But they arent there for no reason. Go cats. Get the w this week.

I hate the things that make me dislike him, like taking hard earned money from programs/kids, no matter what form it is. Someone has to repurchase stuff to replace items, that could've been spent on other needed things. I only 2 types of people thieves and liars, if anyone falls into those categories well.....

If I seem bitter, it's not because he left. I have no hard feelings about anyone trying to better themselves in life, in fact I told him he should go to Struthers when he asked me. It's when you spit in my face after the fact, I have the problem with. When Mark was here I made sure he got everything he needed to help him coach and make things easier. I even made a few enemies in doing so. Then he pulled his stunt by taking them things that were bought for the program with program monies. That's why I'm bitter....

Well said...

I just said that if Asher gets fired, it'll be because of his, and more importantly his team's, actions on and off the field. I didn't hire him, Carden didn't hire him, the Gridiron Club didn't hire him... the BOE did. It's their decision whether or not we need a new coach. If he stays, he'll have my support. If he leaves, good luck to him. I'm not hating on the guy... I've never even met him... yet.

It may not be time to send Asher packing, but it's definitely past the time to hit the panic button. From listening to him talk, I can honestly say that I think he does want to turn things around. He does want to do right by the kids. It'll take time though. As the saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Unfortunately, they'll need to do some heavy damage control over the offseason and possibly even into next year.

And I can't really say Asher was stupid for firing Nagle. I probably would've done the same, if I were in his shoes, given the situation.

As for the future of the team...

Who knows? I do think getting rid of open enrollment is a good idea. Most of the OE kids don't play sports, and they're not exactly the best influence either.

I'll never stop supporting Struthers. Never....

I know the injuries have caused problems, and the flu has been going around too. Disciplinary concerns are a problem too.

Still, they have a lot to play for. A conference championship. the first nonlosing season since 2003, the first win over Hubbard in over a decade, the Seniors' last home game, and a hope for a winning season.

Actually John,

I've been meaning to stop by your office, I have some business outside of football to discuss and Mark knows who I am.

you hired a used car salesmen and that is exactly what you got. you are suppose to hire a man that you want to lead young student-athletes and teach them how to be men. I don't know if there is any truth to rumors but his behavior is enough to axe him.
you should of gotten your last coach better assistants and we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I don't know much but I do know that I wouldn't send my son to play for Asher.

If your a fan of his you better enjoy the next two weeks because that will be the last time he is on the sidelines as a coach at Struthers.

The head coach picks his assistants. So that didn't make too much sense to me. Stop talking about the last coach, that's old news, we all know he was terrible. Drop it.

I agree with Spread and that's not very often. But Dallas from what a lot of Struthers fans said was a great guy. Just not a good coach. And Coaches hire there own assistance. that was not a smart statement.

Spread...I talked more about the current coach then the previous coach. I have idea for you and your Struthers brothers...hire an outside third party to hire the next coach because if the last coach sucked and this coach sucks then your community is 0 for 2 on head coaches the last half decade.

I hate having the last post on a page. It seems like no one ever sees it.

The last two coaches Struthers has had, have been outsiders. Neither have really worked out too well.

As I've previously said...

If Asher is the coach next year, I'll support him... just like I did when Saunders was the coach. If the BOE wants to move on, my vote would be for Eric Ungaro of Howland.

Good question.

I would say that it's just that the kids don't care. Some of them do, and some of them don't. A lot of them don't want to put in the effort over the offseason though. They might have 4 guys benching over 300 pounds. Last year, they only had 3. My Senior year, we had close to 10.

Champions aren't born, they're made. And they're made in December and January, not September and October.

Gary Muntean is the answer at QB. Build the offense around him. Let Kimbrough return kicks and play S and WR, but Muntean is the man. I think #12 solidified the starting QB job tonight.

All in all, the Cats hung tough all night, without #77 and #44. Even after falling behind 14-0, they fought back to make it 14-13, but the PAT was blocked. Hubbard got a relatively quick TD on the ensuing drive. They wisely went for 2 and got it to make it a 2 possession game...

Something that I don't really understand.

1st and goal from the 7, down 22-13 with 5 minutes left. Incomplete pass on 1st down. Sacked back to the 13 on 2nd down. They threw a screen to Kunzer on 3rd down back to the 9. The FG on 4th down was blocked.

Why not put the pass in the endzone on 3rd down? I mean, that's almost like admitting defeat...

Stewart being out hurt the running game, as expected. The line had trouble handling the blitz at times too. The defense played hard. They gave up 2 big plays. A 41 yard TD run and a 34 yard TD run, both by Larry Scott... Scott played a hell of a game, BTW. They never gave up though. They fought hard, showed improvement, and kept it interesting...

Sorry to hear that what sounded so promising for my St Ruther's brethern has turned sour so quickly. I really would like to see the Cats turn this thing around. The girls & boys hoops teams are strong again hopefully it will happen for the football team soon. The Cats football program reminds me of the Browns since Ricky McFadden & his crew graduated both are pretty much a non factor to opponents.

Come on Cats turn it around
