Yeah. I mean he said he didn't want to replace anyone at UK. I get where he's coming from, but facts are facts, he's going to replace (and be compared to) the National DPOY, Nation POY and #1 overall draft pick in Anthony Davis.

He will literally step right into A.D.'s shoes, and may do so with some of the same team members. I could see a scenario where any combo of Lamb, Teague, Jones or Kidd-Gilchrist return, along with Wiltjer.

Promising for Syracuse IMO.

That report (which NBC Sports is claiming) is based off of nothing more than a tweet that Jay Williams made last night. The only thing that is certain at this juncture is that Mason is at least considering the jump and weighing his options. NBC's report is slothful journalism at best. Their main source was a tweet.

With that said, in recent memory, the only Duke player that I can recall who openly threw his name out there as a potential early entrant and then returned to Durham the following fall is Kyler Singler. He did that after the Blue Devils' 2010 national championship win. Let's just say that Coach K knows some people (read: connections) and that his players are probably pretty well-informed as to where they stand with regards to the NBA Draft. If Mason's name is floating out there, he's gone. Just as Dunleavy, Deng, Henderson, Irving, etc. were before him.

Austin next? It could be a cold summer in Durham.

It should be no matter if the whole team comes back and Lebron quits the NBA and plays for them. They just lost to a 15 seed.

I apologize if it's already been posted

http://www.toledoblade.com/Michigan/2012/03/22/Smotrycz-leaving-Michigan-basketball-team.html
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Evan Smotrycz, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward, is one of three players leaving the Michigan basketball team to transfer, and point guard Trey Burke is considering a jump to the NBA.
Smotrycz, sophomore Colton Christian, and freshman Carlton Brundidge are all transferring. Smotrycz started 42 games over the last two seasons.
"We never like to see players leave the program. However, Evan, Colton, and Carlton have made the decision to transfer and continue their careers elsewhere," coach John Beilein said Wednesday in a statement. "All three are fine young men with bright futures. We wish them and their families nothing but success going forward."
Burke averaged a team-high 14.8 points per game. The 5-foot-11 Burke took over at point guard after Darius Morris left early for the NBA following the 2010-11 campaign.
Benji Burke, Trey's father, confirmed that his son is gathering information about his pro prospects.
Smotrycz was 22 of 30 from the field during a four-game stretch in December. But his production slipped when Big Ten play began and he lost his starting job. He finished the season averaging 7.7 points per game. He scored 15 points in the NCAA tournament game against Ohio, but the Wolverines were upset.
Christian, a forward, and Brundidge, a guard, played sparingly. They combined to score 13 points in 2011-12.
Michigan will also have to replace senior starters Zack Novak and Stu Douglass

More than likely, he would be replacing Fab Melo in Syracuse.

Yes, because, in light of that, clearly Coach K is going to shut the whole operation down.

BTW, it's OK to be hyperbolic but not obtuse.

IMO Burke is the only one that will really hurt. The others might affect depth, but it's no different than players at any other school transferring when they don't get to play. Maybe they will end up in a better place for them. (like Offut at Ohio)

This news certainly makes the Michigan players sound like trading cards. That's a lot of movement for one year. Wow.

If the scholarship situation was right, I'd welcome Smotrycz at Duke. As a 6'9" sharpshooter with a a polished skillset from deep and a facility for defense stretching, he'd be a perfect replacement for Ryan Kelly upon Kelly's graduation next summer. With the year-off due to transfer rules, Smotrycz would also have ample opportunity to get stronger and grow as a player.

The better question is, once coach K quits and Duke falls off the map, what team will you bandwagon then?

Probably Kentucky. Maybe Syracuse if they win this year.

Maybe if the west coast wants to watch, they should start playing real basketball again instead of bitch-ball, getting knocked out quickly if they even blow enough people to get invited.

Tomorrow's gonna suck at work...ALL BECAUSE OF THE WEST COAST!

Might as well start the games late so the east coast will miss them and make sure the west coast gets to watch their teams play. I think both Baylor and Kansas are in the central time zone.

Might as well not even play the games at all. Ohio State, Championship!

9pm ET is primetime. They maximize ratings for all 4 games by having them fall in the 9-10pm slot.

ESPN reporting MKG is entering the draft. Not sure Anthony Davis will even have to announce an intention.

What a terrible time to come out with this. Kentucky is already throwing in the towel, I wouldn't be surprised if Indiana wins going away.

Wasn't he talking about staying 4yrs just a couple weeks back? Interesting this comes out at this point in time. Especially after his last game, maybe his worst of the season. Mind elsewhere?

Definitely weird timing for Kidd. But, because the deadline for announcing is April 11 this year (no more "testing the waters" per new rules), perhaps Kidd just wanted to let the NBA GMs know now that he's going, so that his performances from here on out can be viewed more thoroughly by pro teams.. I have no idea, just a thought.

Apparently Myck Kabongo from Texas is also a high probability for entering. Rick Barnes has no luck.

Will Barton appears to be entering the draft too. Not a huge surprise, but also not a 1st rounder in my opinion.

Report is that Trevor Mbakwe has been granted a sixth year for Minnesota

Edit: Official now, the NCAA granted him a sixth year. If ASU's Lockett transfers in, Rodney Williams stays, and Dre Hollins keeps up his recent performance into next season, I think the Gophers will be one of the favorites in the B1G. And no, I'm not kidding.
