I hold the door open for women, will pull their chair out, etc but that sort of thing is dumb and almost insulting to the woman. Plus a car veering off the road onto the sidewalk is one of the things I'm least worried about in life. Probably should walk 100ft away from your wife and hold a metal rod up in the air to draw the lightning towards yourself at all times if you're going to be worried about **** like that.
Who said anything about being worried about it? Jeez, I stated something I do naturally now, not something I worry about everytime we walk.

Just like if its raining, hold the umbrella over her head and let the rain hit you, etc.

If I had to bet, I'd say most of the guys who are calling it retarded or irrational are pretty young.

Mind you "that sort of thing" was referring to sleeping nearer the window, walking closer to the sidewalk, etc. Not holding doors open and pulling chairs out. There's a difference between being a gentleman and being a moron.

That's why I sleep closest to the door. In case we're ever attacked while sleeping, I get pwned first.

Our master suite is on the ground floor. With the way our house is laid out, whichever one of us is closest to the door gets attacked. So that's the straw I draw.

Who do you think is going to come in and attack you while you're sleeping?

Scarlet_Buckeye;933162 wrote:The thing about a guy walking closest to road is not something that is stupid........much like a guy opening a door for a woman is just common courtesy and considered ettiquite, so is the the guy walking closest to the road. It's just another example of good ettiquite/manners.
It is common, but it has nothing to do with traffic. The reason why it became customary was in the old days in cities people would often dump stuff (like waste water) from upper floors and it was less likely to hit the person closest to the building, thus the man would walk on the outside of the woman.

I'm not sure it has any real etiquette meaning today, just traditional custom, and I couldn't tell you the last time my wife and I walked somewhere who was on what side.

Also, as for the bed my wife always wants to sleep on the side closest to the bathroom, which usually (but not always) means closest to the door and I'm closest to the window.

So everyone who walks closer to the street than their girl is a moron?

Interesting, I am a moron I guess...either that or I value my wife's safety more than my own.

Not a moron, but it's not like it makes you any more or less polite either.
