In my life time I have seen parents bury their children, husband and or wife die early in the marriage relationship and now in their older years watch their spouse pass away.

The question is a two part question:

If your parents are alive who would you want to pass away first and why?
If you are married who would you want to die first and why?

It is a difficult question on many levels and it’s a question that no matter want you said only the future will hold the answer.

My wife is a strong and resourceful individual, she been the strength of this family when needed and the confidence provide for all of us. She has trained us will to be survivors providing a spiritual and faithful guidance also. I have provided for her care and future without me … I hope that this will be the fate of the future.
If it should turn out to be different then I will continue to live a beneficial life because of her wisdom.

I'm being selfish when I say I don't want to outlive my wife.

This.

I feel selfish wanting this because I know the emotional burden it will put her through....but I am strong enough to know my weaknesses and I know I would not fair well emotionally see her die.

Not for me to decide or control so I rarely think about it.

I'm already dead and posting from the afterlife. And, by afterlife I mean my moms basement.

Precisely. When I die, I die. Whoever wants to deal with the corpse can do so.

Since I've already buried a child, outliving my kids ( or at least one of them) was a decision already made for me. My dad and step dad are both already dead. As for my wife, neither of us will do well when the other is gone, so I guess I'd rather she go first so she doesn't have to deal with burying me.

I most def will go first.

Probably buy a gunshop, knife wound, or poison from the wife.

and to be honest, at this point, i welcome it.

Both of my parents are alive but I haven't had any contact with my father in over 16 years. I don't want the man to die but if I had to pick one to go first it would be him every time.

We are young, I'd hate to see either of us have to deal with the death of the other but I'll have to selfishly say, like others, that I'd hope to go first. I'm almost 100% certain she'll end up killing me at some point anyway, so it works out well that way.

Well, we were planning on getting a big life insurance policy on you first and then heading down to the Caribbean after.
